Forums - Microsoft - Xbox ONE for $199 at Best Buy (trade in offer)

How much would GameStop give me for a new Xbox One? My plan is to give in my 360, buy an Xbone, sell the Xbone, and with the remaining money to buy a PS4. Can anyone tell me if this is a good plan? How much money can I save by doing this?

I'm now filled with determination.

Xbox One sure is selling like hotcakes right about now

Soon it will be cheaper then hotcakes and will be outselling them too (for a few weeks).

EDIT: Anyone who doesn't think MS is not footing the bill for most if not all of this deal is deluded! THe potential profit of the Xbox division is dropping by the day.

thy already said, that they expect lower revenue for this holiday quarter compared to last year due to new priced skus. 3 - 3.5 billion, if im right
but ofc. last year they sold 3.9m xbox one at 499

they will still make a operating profit

You really get worked up on Xbox sales thread dude. Chill out, no need to go berserk.

Add to this the fact that MS can easliy afford to do this while at the same time fufil shareholders expectations for mega profits!

Actually they sold 3.1 million units to customers at 499 and shipped 3.9 million units at a lower price unless you think retailers make $0 off of sales.

ofc ur right. i just used the msrp
retailers always pay less

Its a good deal for those that want to get rid of their old consoles.  I still have a lot of games on my backlog for my 360 and wanna keep it.

It would be fascinating to know what retailers pay, but it may be quite complex as I'm sure different retailers may have different agreements.  Reminds me of Walmart.  When you approach a Buyer at Walmart, they are going to press you for the lowest price.  The price that Walmart pays per unit may be lower than what another retailer pays. And retailers probably don't disclose their buying price to one another for obvious reasons.  Everyone is competing.

I see 250GB 360s on ebay going for less than $100, so $150 is quite far above market value. No way Best Buy is doing this on its own. And the market value for 360 will take a dive with Best Buy needing to hock off thousands of units to try to recoup its share of the trade in cost; assuming MS isn't wearing the full cost and just dumping the 360s.

MS is really going all out to take the lead in the USA. US Xbox gamers have to be pleased as how cheap it's becoming to get into the new generation. They should be thanking Sony for kicking arse all year.

This is very true. It is very interseting to see MS operating on 2 levels here. A) get as many X360 owners to upgrade to XONE with compelling bundles and deals and B) at the same time attract budget minded customers to the X360 with cheap bundles such as COD Black Ops II/ Ghost bundle as well as casual bundles such as the holiday Kinect and Peggle 2 deal. Can they really have it both ways?
