For those of you following tv development here are some real numbers.
| TV | Contrast Ratio | Lums Low (cd/m2) | Lums High (cd/m2) |
| Brightside | 200,000:1 | .01 | 4,000 |
| LCD Westinghouse | 1000:1 | .55 | 550 |
| Sony’s OLED | 1,000,000:1 | 0 | 600 |
| LCD | 1000:1 | 500-600 | |
| Plasma* Selling # | 800-1000* | ||
| Plasma (real world #) | 100 | ||
| CRT | 300-500 |
These are the claim they make for there product. As you can see sony's 1 million to 1 contrast ratio is BS as you can't divide by 0 and Brightside has 3,500 more lums and has a smaller contrast ratio. Some may claim the .01 makes a difference but it doesn't.
Note: plasma TV's don't measure in the usual way and that is why there are 2 numbers. 1 for there bizzare measuring and then the real world numbers.
The westing house is one of the best LCD's out but as you can see still has a fair amount of lums in the dark areas.
And for those who don't know lums is brightness
Hope you enjoy.
