Forums - Sony - Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare blocks out Share Play entirely

Around the Network

I sorta expected this to be honest.

That's pretty stupid of Activision.

That said, anybody trying to accuse Sony in some way is a know-nothing. Share Play is on for all games by default, but publishers can take specific actions to block it if they so choose. Very few will so choose, as it's fairly silly to make the game less appealing and miss out on the advertising opportunity.

Its not like COD needs another advertising opportunity.

If anything I expect this to be a thing for a couple months and then Activision opens it up when sales slow down. You're losing possible buyers if someone says "Oh I'll just play this game when my friend gets online and have him constantly accept the share play request until I finish the game."

if publishers are worried about how shareplay is going to take away sales i'll bet publishers were absolutely livid about ms's family sharing library idea.  that would have been like 10 times the lost sales as shareplay.

Not with the policies set. You know the whole DRM thing. Publishers would be making money back on any game sold to Gamestop.

Parity.
