I'm not an expert, but didn't the PS3 go into developement before the Wii, I believe it was the Wii that copied the PS3 by having motion sensing, the Wii was scraped together by Nintendo so that they wouldn't be left out of "the next gen".

Njs let's clarify accurate: you need huge buttons on the screen to interact comfortably and a noob with a mouse would kill the best player using a wiimote. There is much room for improvement. Besides the point approach may be nice for rail shooters but the big advantage of the mouse is the comfortable and perfectly accurate relative input. There has to be a way to bring this to a controller an improved trackball perhaps?

I do know PS3 went into development far before the Wii, but I cannot recall nor find my source that went into detail about the Wii's development.
