Well I apprecaite that you are new to the series so I woulnd't expect you to know things like that. But your giving the series an inaccurate portrayal by pretending that DmC was the problem, when the problems came from the previous games. Even DMC3 had combat issues that needed to be addressed.

You've got some major reading problems if you somehow picked that up from what I said. I never, ever claimed that DMC3 didn't have issues (or any other game in the franchise). I said the first and third game were masterpieces. Perfect? Not at all, but they're both well contained, tight, enjoyable action titles that are well paced (outside of the first mission of DMC1) and at the top of their genre, at least in my opinion.

DmC was by no means the first "flawed" game in the series, but it was a major step back. Pretentious story trying way too hard to be taken seriously, dumbed down combat scheme that removed quite a bit of what fans enjoyed from the previous DMC games, a frankly bizarre decision to put enemies in the later levels that were only vulnerable to 1 or 2 weapons which limited combat variety big time and some incredibly underwhelming boss fights. 

With all that said, that's simply why I didn't like the game. The artstyle is something I found intriguing, but it wasn't enough to offset the rest of the game. If you like it, then hey, more power to you. But don't pretend that you somehow speak for the entirety of the fanbase here.

Characters.  DMC

Better first game.  DMC

Evolvution.  DMC.  God of War has been the same since the first one.  I haven't played Ascension, but there's five games before that so it's negilible.

Better games.  DMC by far, except for the second game.  God of War is okay, not all that great.

... I haven't said I'm speaking for the entirity of the fans... I am speaking from well grounded facts. Neither us can speak for individuals other than ourselves, unless we are quoting professional sources. Which you are not.

Like I said, I don't see how giving the player manual lock-on and more complete control over Dante were a step back. You will have to rephrase that as you opinion, since I understand your not well versed with the series. Thats fine, but your views are not universally accepted I'm afraid.

Your opinion on the story is your own. As it is your own opinion the combat is 'dumbed down'. Like I said, I understand your new to the series, so you are unaware that the combat is exceptional and exceeded the sophistcation of the combat in previous games. Try not to state your inexperienced opinion as fact next time.

If you played one good game then the second game which Capcom made aware it was by a different development team that turned out to be absolute ass, then heard again that the development team was changing for the third one.  Common sense would be, hey they went back to the first development team, especially gamers who aren't in the know.  Combos going back to timed button presses, etc. 

The fact of the matter though, that none of this even matters because Platinum games didn't develop DMC3.  Platinum had no part in the advancements made to the series, had no part in developing the large amount of well designed bosses that far exceed the quality of the four bosses you repeatedly fight on the first game.  This isn't to bash Platinum though.  They've made good games, just throwing the fact thatKamiya didn't help create anything other than the first DMC in the series, so stop trying to give credit where credit isn't due.

You really want to do this again? I've still got your posts of admitting DMC4 was automatic, and thus you can never objectively prove that the combat is better as long as you've admitted the truth about that.

Anyway, of course it's my opinion the game is dumbed down. I've literally been saying everything is my opinion in all of my posts on here. Everything we've been saying about this is opinion. Including your rather silly claim about the combat being "objectively" better, when the overall quality of a game is literally nothing BUT opinion.

Thats perfectly fine, your stating your opinion, nothing more than that. I don't see a problem. If thats all it is then theres no problem.

God Of War is better in every respect compared to Devil May Cry except for the protagonist.
