If he only wants 1 platform and it has to be a console he and everyone else should pick the PS4.Fact. |
No.
You should buy the platform that has the best games that actually interests you.
And guess what? And I am sorry to burst your bubble, but there are entire genre's of games that the Playstation 4 and Xbox One genuinely sucks the proverbial ball at.
A PC can work as a fantastic replacement of a console in a loungeroom connected to a TV, you also don't have a hardware manufacturer that dictates it's use-case scenario's either.

That's because, every console game, even if it's exclusive, regardless of platform, does get released on the PC, regardless if the developer, publisher, platform holder likes it or not, eventually.
Did you know I can run a virtualised copy of Android on my x86 PC? I can then (Thanks to the power of binary translation) run the entire Android video game ecosystem, the more you know.

Unfortunatly, that's mostly all personal opinion, rather than fact, you are blinded and don't realise the big AAA exclusives the PC has, which are just as numerous as consoles, ironically a large portion of those aren't even on Steam, you are also forgetting the PC's ability to run other platforms games, yes including the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
With the Playstation 4 and Xbox One using Low-End PC hardware, it should occur sooner rather than later.
However... This is ALL completely pointless at the end of the day.
The *BEST* Platform is the platform that has the games that you, the individual actually likes the most, from my perspective, the Playstation 4 is the worst console on the market, it doesn't have my PC exclusives and it doesn't have Halo.
Heck, if graphics were all that mattered, consoles and handhelds wouldn't exist, it's that damn simple.
Azzanation said: The PC graphics are worlds apart better when compared to console games, eg 60 frames > 30 frames, thats almost double the power just in the framerate and i am not including the advance effects and resolution. The sad part of your argument is you mention about PC gamers have missed out on GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption, but how long have PC gamers being playing games like Planet Side 2 or Diablo 3? The fact if with consoles (heres where they trick you) They make you buy the game twice, one version on current or last gen and the other on next gen. PC versions normaly are the next gen game (which is cheaper then the last gen version on consoles) and they normaly get updated with patches to increase the visuals over time so your not buying the game twice. My mate brought Half Life on PS2 and in a magainze stated "The best looking verion" I reloaded Half Life on Steam and all i did was change Direct X 7 to Direct X 11 and wow, i automaticly saw massive differences and felt like a remastered game and it was FREE. |
You're implying the PC is limited to a 60fps cap? :P
120fps and 144fps (Aka. 120 and 144hz panels) can provide large improvements in fluidity and clarity over 60fps.
Don't forget: StarCraft 2, Leagues of Legends, Dawn of the Ancients 2, World of WarCraft, Mech Warrior: Online, Planetary Annihialation, Civilization, Starwars: The old Republic (Most expensive game developed, next to GTA 5), heck even StarCitizen, The Sims, Sims City, The Settlers, Age of Mythology and Age of Empires, just to name a couple'.
Don't forget graphics mods.
This is what a mods does to Grand Theft Auto IV:
Could easily give a Playstation 4 game a run for it's money in the graphics stakes, even if it is a 6 year old game. ;)
