So? We caused their problems, so sorry, but that's not our problem anymore they are not going to turn into some functioning country any time soon if ever and we don't have the luxury pf waiting for that day.
They don't respect us now, and they will respect us more if they see that we are not the country that interferes where we shouldn't, invading Iran, and maintaining a permanent prescense in iraq will not win us any respect. It is insanity to try the same thing over and over and expect a different result, sorry, but this Iraq conflict is a failure, the smart thing to do is to know when you've failed and to cut your losses |
Oh yeah, people are really going to respect us when we leave and things in iraq have a short bloody period of civil war that will likely involve genocide while likely being replaced by a government just as bad as Saddam Hussein's in the first place.
I know i really respect the kid who hits a baseball through his neighbors window, then runs away and doesn't pay to fix it. That's someone who's real trustworthy.
As for no signs of them starting it up again... the UN seems to disagree. Considering the impending sanctions and the fact that they haven't even adressed any of the IAEA's questions about nuclear weapons.
Who says you have to do the same things in Iraq. You can try different strategies. To bail out now under the guise of "It was that other guys fault, the one that talks like an idiot" is a pure slimeball move.
Even if it meant the ruin of our nation it would be our responsibility to try and make things right.
We went in Iraq for self serving goals, and now you want to pull out for self serving goals.
For once our country shouldn't do things for purely self serving goals, admit we screwed up and continue to try and fix things and do whatever we can to get help in fixing things.
How after Bush's idiotic presidency the republican candidate became the actual candidate of national personal responsibility i'll never know.
