So, you won´t give us your Halo stats...
Ok, fine.
And you won´t even look at my status and tell us that I have 36 DAYS of Halo Reach total play time and "only" 6 days for Halo 4.
I'm not that impressed. 3.2m is on 4 platforms and to even play the game in single player, you need to be online.

I don't know how to deal with what Bungie said...
"Destiny averages 3.2 million players each and every day!"
But everyday seems to look each day there is average number of players... if that is true I'm sure the people are not playing single-player only... most coop and PVP.

The game is only a month old. I expect to those figures to drop significantly over the next few weeks when other big games come out.

I like this conspiracy theory, it's almost as good as the "people only hate Destiny because it's not Xbox exclusive!" conspiracy theory.
Of course, if we removed the Bungie name from Destiny and replaced it with "AlphaDogs", then you'd still be left with an incredibly small amount of content, a bait and switch marketing campaign, and a completely irrelevant/absent/incomplete story. So the reviews would have been pretty much the same.
I'm doing nothing now and decided to read the blog post again..
Dmoney12321: Is Destiny going to keep evolving?
Yes.
I’m pretty excited about the next game update. I think you will be, too. We’re working up an explanation of what we’ll be changing. You’ll know what I know real soon. Some of you will laugh. Some of you will cry. Some of you will howl at the moon. Some of you will rejoice. We'll always look to strike a balance.
I can't wait the next update.

The average of the first number is calculated over all players, the average of the second number is calculated over 30 days. Had the first average been more a median than an average, you'd have a more steady line in the second number, leading to an overall larger average than 20.9 times. Obviously its not a median though, nor is it near the median in fact (as you can tell by the fact that 20.9<<54) this means that both numbers are bloated somewhere (think a histogram with a huge spike somewhere), the average ends up being very different from the median and we have an askew graph. Actually... why did they even publish these numbers. |
psst, not everyone has owned the game from day one. your calculations assume that, thus are wrong.

Psst, statistically, sales are heavily front loaded and drop-off substantially after the first two weeks. The majority who are part of these "averages" had the game within two weeks, the majority of that majority had the game within the first day or two.
