Well atleast this shows they are not arbitrarily force feeding channels to show high quarterly shipment numbers.

While they in fact use as many sourced info data they can get a hold of, this give Sony and others electronic first direct sales data in sold through product retail "unit sold per /discount" data if there is none or if there was, the fact the retail logs data by direct software sourced data and in almost daily basis is quite a good way to track sold through data.

Now that the electronics companies have direct access to such data really does even allow the companies to know a better than a guess of unit sales sold through hell even returnd faulty unit numbers as well!

Not just india, it was as example, they are using this in retail partners world wide, and its not just Only Sony useing this method also.

Samsung, Panasonic etc. They may be looking at this as a standard way for tracking because it serves more than just tracking also has other benefits too boot.

This is a really good way to strengthen your brand and at the same time help the retailers not to overstock. Win-Win.
