Forums - General - Fleet of UFO's in the sky

First UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object it does not mean space craft. Second there are three or four possible phenomena that easily explain those images. Third your standard camcorder will digitally alter images taken in an attempt to increase quality. Zooming with a camcorder only distorts images it does not induce detail.

Weezy your second image is most definitely birds, and the first image is very likely to be birds. When our avian friends fly over urban population centers they must contend with unique atmospheric phenomena. Skyscrapers create sheering forces, massive thermals, and you don't want to know what kind of noise volume those poor birds are dealing with. To be blunt no bird formation over a massive city is abnormal. They are smacking into walls of turbulence, giant updrafts, and all the city noises fired skyward.

I work in a small town and even that limited heat island effect has dramatic effects on the resident geese. I have actually seen them fly backwards get spun three hundred and sixty degrees, and on one occasion I actually saw them collide. Birds will try to form a V formation, but if the conditions do not permit it they can form any number of amalgams.

Other possible explanations vary from star shine, and you can most definitely see the stars during the day most especially on a clear day especially in winter. There is the possibility of mass balloon launches, and yes even insects. Yes spiders have been known to launch themselves into the air in flocks.

Basically there are a lot of phenomena that are far more realistic then extra terrestrial space craft. From the obvious pack of birds, to the phenomena of massive Ball Lightning discharges. Jumpy camcorder images are about as utterly worthless as you can get. Even an old black and white is vastly superior for verifiable image quality.

Excuse me I have to go film some rods. By all means look up rods. I am sure you will find that video evidence compelling as well.

Once again Camcorders distort images. Camcorders have software to compensate for user stupidity. Much in the same way that your brain will force you to perceive a image in an incorrect manner to align it with a preconceived notion. Such as in the case of optical illusions.

Optical illusions happen when you perceive something that isn't true to what the actual image is. For instance look at the moon as it is rising, and then look at the moon a few hours later. You will notice something curious the rising moon looks much bigger then the moon that is high in the sky. In fact the closer the moon is to the ground the larger it appears to you. However with simple thumb measurements you will discover that the moons size has not changed.

In fact thanks to your knowledge of Astronomy you know it is utterly impossible. The Moon has a nearly circular orbit. However if you believed your eyes you would think it was three times closer to the planet early in the night. The reason you perceive this is, because your brain interprets images, and places them into the context of normal experience.

A camcorder does much the same thing it wasn't designed to film objects thousands of feet away. Thus when it is asked to do so it applies the same programs to correct for imaging in a room that may be too dark, or which might have a bright light in the corner, but a dark corner in the other side of the room. Were the camera not to compensate for such bad filming conditions the films of a family get together might look very bad.

The average camcorder was not designed to take these images, and so it does a poor job of making the necessary corrections. The Zoom function was never intended to be used on distant objects, but objects within less then fifty feet. You can easily defeat a camcorder and that is why camcorder video is considered by most scientists to the worst method of evidence gathering.

Yes there are cameras you can buy expressly for the purposes of observing aerial phenomena. There is a reason Storm chasers, backyard meteorologists, and amateur astronomers do not use, or like to use camcorders. They screw the job up.
