There is no reason to believe God started the universe.

There is however reason to believe that a loving pink unicorn created the universe.

For one, many in this universe have observed a cosmic rift between two forces, one called good the other called evil. It is their prefered way of explaining historical figures such as Hitler, and historical issues such as the abusive slavery of black people.

It also would explain the detail in which the universe manifests itself, things like love and laughter, the intricate nature of the human form and genetics, and the many wonders of the world.

God pales in comparison (excuse the pun) to the pink unicorn's believeability for instance.

I can do that exact same argument the other way around as I just did. You can't refute that a cuddly, fuddly pink unicorn began the universe and therefore, you're wrong. See, it's that easy.

Did you read my post? What is your take on the moral question I presented. How would a pink unicorn address it?

The fact that the pink unicorn is all-loving, just like your God is all-loving.

There is nothing wrong with a healthy skepticsm. All of the world's major religions as we know them today are founded on war. (yes christianity - the battle of the milvian bridge is all yours).  The actual teachings of Jesus couldn't be any further removed from right wing fundamentalism if it tried.

Exactly. I can say an omnipotent pink unicorn started the universe and use that exact excuse. No one can disprove that a pink unicorn started the universe, but does that make it any more true? No.

Sorry, but I think the pink unicorn is just as likely.  Just because people have been brainwashed as children to believe something, doesn't make it more likely.

And if by "many", you mean very few, then you might have a point.

Yes! Long live the pink unicorn!

Children with imagination have difficulty distinguishing fact from fiction. Which is about every child. That's why they are children.

Ummm, what?  Having a vivid imagination has nothing to do with distinguishing fact from fiction.  You must not have kids.

I teach kids. Kids at that age are gullible and will believe a lot of stuff you tell them.

Yes, they are gullible whether or not they have a vivid imagination.

Has the unicorn done anything to manifest that love to the world, like the God of the bible freed the Jews from Egypt and sent his son to sacrifice himself in love for the world?

Yes. The unicorn did all that. You can't deny that awesomeness of the pink unicorn.

For all you know this god of yours takes the form of a pink unicorn. How the hell do you even know if god is loving or not? Just because your scriptures tell you so? For all the good stuff in the world there's a lot of shit too. And please don't use Satan or the fall of Adam and Eve or whatever as an excuse.

The thing is that the belief in a sentient god is wrong because if the god is sentient, then 1.) why is 99.99999999% of the universe nothing, but floating atoms and 2.) How come so much bad **** has happened in the world and many perpetrators get away with it? If there was a god, at all, that god will be neutral and non-sentient. It gives no f*** because there is nothing for it to give a f***.

Not to mention, God created Adam and Eve, who ate the Forbidden Fruit when God told them not to. Way to go God......

Yes, way to go God. He didn't create robots he could just bend to his will, he gave us the free choice. Way to go GOD!

But God isn't supposed to make mistakes and yet he created two of them. Way to go God....

And what would those two mistakes be? 99.999% of the universe being nothing but floating atoms is a mistake? Have you seen the complexity of the genetic code and that of a cell?

Free will was a mistake? If so let's just agree to disagree (no pun intended).

God had the free will to not make Adam and Eve, but he did. God supposedly is omnipotent and yet, God didn't see Adam and Eve eating the Forbidden Fruit coming. If God did, God would've not created them in the first place.

And nothing beats the pink unicorn. The pink unicorn is more valid than your God because it is and you can't disprove it.

Why so angry? I personally have much more faith in the God described in the bible than in some undescribed pink unicorn.

The God described in the bible takes subtle forms and does things which can be plausibly attributed to the creator of the universe were there one.

Not only that, but the bible actually has a creation story for starters.

There is nothing in any holy text that suggests divine authorship or superhuman knowledge. Therefore, why not accept the obvious explanation - they are wholly man made texts.
