Forums - Gaming - Was WoW's "tribute" to Robin Williams a money grab?

The hell it doesn't. A paywall is a paywall and it is behind one.You can't see Robin Williams tribute without going through that pay wall. The reason they were inspired to do it in the first place was because of that American consolate employee that played EvE online. EvE can be played for absolutly free. After they made that tribute it increased their user base by a considerable ammount. WoW has a pay wall and they just increased the price, if you read the forums they are considering raising the price everywhere. It absolutly does count and unless they want to offer people the ability to see that tribute without having to pay then they are exploiting his death and making money off it because just like with EvE it will give them a boost. If it didn't then they probably wouldn't be increasing the subscription cost.

So what you are saying is they should make WoW free or not honor him at all?

Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

No, I'm saying they should give a portion of profits to some of the charities Robin Williams supposrted. What's wrong with that?

So that's the only possible way to honor a man without being accused of moneygrabbing by you?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I shall. n.n Sorry if I came off heated. ._. Like I mentioned earlier, his death hit me harder than I expected, considering I'm not even what I'd call a major Robin Williams fan. While I can't say for sure that there aren't big wigs who aren't thinking about- honestly dubious- dollarsign boosts, I think that demonizing the entire company would be unfair to the developers and employees who might honestly be enthusiastic about the prospect for the same reason I'd be, were I working there. xP

If you are making money off the man's likeness and you arn't putting some of that money towards something he would have wanted then you arn't really honoring him..

So I guess all these statues around the world for war victims and great people that advanced humanity aren't really honering people. They're just there to draw a crowd to sell them hot dogs.

I hope those people who etch your gravestone will donate some of that money they got from selling it to your family to charity or else it would mean nothing. Greedy bastards making a fortune out of your family's misery.

Seriously, implying this is disgusting and dis-respectful... I can understand and even find all those conspiracy theories funny but... this....

this is a very sad thread, OP needs to realize it

No. Robin Williams in fact deserves more game cameos. Come on, Nintendo, do it!
