The game should only be played on a pc anyway.

No two versions of the game will be exactly the same. If you are going to skip out on a game just because another platform has some minor exclusive content for it, it'll be your loss every single time. "Paying the same for less" isn't exactly what's going on. You're paying the same for the same game, but the other platform has a few freebies thrown in to sweeten the deal. And generally, those freebies aren't worth anything, period. Getting some costumes or a cloth or a small map is not worth paying anny more or any less.

To each his own though. I just play games because they are fun, it's hard to enjoy things when you're so caught up in whether or not someone has a version just ever so slightly better than yours.

Better = more fun. Simple.

This is bullshit. I hope you are just joking

Yes, let's boycott this game on PS4, so they won't make games for PS4 anymore, due to small sales? Sounds about right

its comments like this that start flamewars , its pure flamebait.

Flame me then, but it is true. People are already boycotting Tomb Raider.

You mad, bro?

"fans" are turning into THE major source of bad publicity for games industry nowadays.

People are complaining and making issues about practically every little thing.

All this is in an industry where the retail price of a game has not increased in 20 years while cost of making games to the satisfaction of "fans" has bankrupted studios which are not owned by big publishers.

Just give our developers a break pls

This post is true and got overlooked sadly

Nice. Some dev being honest. I would love CD if they would just learn that an open world RPG without bow and arrows is garbage.

CD Projekt RED has issued a statement following the less then desirable reaction to the Xbox One version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt obtaining some exclusive items in its version of the collectors edition. Nevermind the fact that Microsoft has heavily promoted The Witcher 3 at every event, including E3 and Gamescom.

Looking at the heated comments, I believe that our announcement of the physical addition of two decks of Gwent cards and a cloth map, requires a further word from us.

Here at CD Projekt Red, we always put gamers first. Our PC versions are released DRM-free, we bend over backwards to give you the most beefed up editions of our games (be it standard or Collector’s), and we deliver the same game, regardless of platform or version you buy. Moreover, we promised not have any exclusive DLCs, neither per platform nor per retailer, and we do stand by our promise–nothing has changed, nor will change in this regard.

Don’t get me wrong, I do understand that these extra items might be desirable for Witcher fans playing the game on other platforms. However, as we are not offering any platform or retail exclusive DLCs or any other form of gameplay differentiation, we do have to find other ways to support our partners. We are also providing special pre-order items for certain retailers around the world, including Witcher comic books, posters, steel books or medallions. Funnily enough, we did not notice any heated comments on the pre-order specials.

What is the reason? Why are we doing this? We need the support of partners to make our game visible worldwide. This should hopefully translate to better sales, which will in consequence allow us to do what we have been doing for the last 10 years, i.e. reinvest this money to make more great RPGs, while still sticking to our values.

If you still consider that adding two decks of Gwent cards and a map of the in-game world to the Xbox One CE equals us betraying our values and not fulfilling our promises, well, it does make us sad, but the final call is always yours to make.

Still, I do hope that what we offer is unique and we can ask you to give us the benefit of the doubt. We have more great things to announce for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the coming months and I promise you won’t be disappointed (yes, yes, there are no more exclusives coming).

I have nothing to say on this subject at this time so I’ll just leave you with CD Projekt RED’s statement and get back to you another time when I feel like discussing how annoying situations like this are becoming with the gaming community. As with the Tomb Raider blog post announcing the exclusivity of the game for Xbox One, I’d avoid the comments on The Witcher 3 Facebook page at this point in time to save yourself from endlessly shaking your head.

We’ll be sure to continue covering all the latest on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt so be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date.

CD Projekt Red.  If you didn't want people to bitch about how you're giving exclusive content to one platform.  There's one simple way to avoid this.   Don't talk bs to the public and say you're creating a content parity game when you're not.  No one would have said anything if you didn't open your mouth and spew that bs PR speak.

I give up! Fair enough moan if there is missing dlc or the whole game but this is just ridiculous!

what tomb raider have to do with this thread?

"You mad, bro? "

you need to try harder than that.

If you use logic, my original post can be in reference to tomb raider. Can you put that together? If you ain't mad, then why with the acquisitions of flaimbaiting? You've been on this forum for a long time now. Im sure you should be able to distinguish between sarcasm and flaimbaiting. Or is it different when I joke about M$, but I can't touch Sony?

Wow, the amount of entitlement in this thread. CD Projekt Red go further than most when trying to balance their business and consumer needs. Amusing people are considering boycotting the game and I'm disgusted by the people insinuating they are going to pirate it. This is why DRM exists in the first place.

The Witcher 3 marketing has been aligned with Xbox for a while now. The collectors edition is only going to make up a small % of the total sales and it is perhaps inconvenient yet not impossible for collectors to get hold of these physical items regardless.

The majority of people are not going to be affected. (Most) Consumers get the same content, CD Projekt Red get the platform holder support/marketing push and Xbox get to align themselves with an exciting looking title.

It is way better than the Destiny situation where the majority of players on one platform are expected to pay the same for almost 20% less strike content and 10% less pvp map content as well as other skins and armor sets.

That sucks. I've got the PC-Version pre-ordered and thinking about canceling it now. I'll still buy the standard version, but I'll probably wait for a lower price.

I mean, I obviously like the Witcher series and want that game and all the goodies - otherwise I wouldn't pre-order the CE. But it's not like this version is cheap - they want 140€ (187$) for that thing. If you want me to pay that much, you better make sure that it's the best version. Paying that much and still not getting the "complete" edition just feels wrong to me.

Well, if you want to help fund the game to the extent that MS has in order to get a cloth and a deck of cards, be my guest.

Else, just buy the standard edition and be happy that the PC version is the definitive one, and DRM free to boot.
