Forums - Microsoft - Personal Microsoft Gamescom Review

first 30 min with indies and fifa 15 ultimate legends was boring to me.  (Even though I like fifa, the Fifa bundle is nice though). some indies could be fun, but i will concentrate more on the main games in this.

then COD came, wich was nice to see graphicly (not my kind of game though, since i dont like 1st person shooters) it looks really nice I think.

Then there was the 1TB COD Bundle, for 499.99 including game and headset. Nice bundle, will probably sell a lot. Personally i do not think a bigger HD, COD and a headset is worth that extra 100.

Evolve looks awesome, but after watching the (too) long COD trailer another 1st person shooter trailer kinda got me bored quickly, after watching COD before this, yeah this seems less.

Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive to xbox, but it only shows art-work?? what the heck? Can not judge this so far at all by some art-work

Then Quantum Break, this game really looks impressive. Looks like a must have title for the XboxOne. The gameplay seems a lot like Uncharted/TLOU including some nice new elements. That pause element looks really interesting too. Also the ability to change the world had me wow.

Would have loved to see this game also to come to PS4, but unfortunatly plans changed a while ago. Nice choice from Microsoft to get this game as an exclusive.

(For ppl wondering what i mean with changed plans, when it was very very first announced it was announced as PS4 exclusive, then it went multiplat and then ended up Microsoft Exclusive)

Fable Legends MMO, this game looks great. Love the theme. Could do really nice, in some views it looks a bit like Diablo (just not as dark). So it seems to combine the original Fable games with a bit of Diablo.

Screamride, this looks like a huge cartoon to me. I am not sure what to think about this. I see a lot of rollercosters crashing. Is it something like an upgraded RollerCoaster Tycoon?

Forza Horizon 2 yeah its forza, looks awesome, Available Now it said in the start, wich should be nice to all.

What else to say about it? Nice racer. Not a Simulator though. But fun to play for sure.

But then on the end it said Sept 20, they said two different dates in the same game videos. Maybe i missed something there. (I must have missed something i think)

Ori and the blind forest: This looks like a really fun platformer, very colourfull

Sunset Overdrive: Sweet exclusive my Imsomniac, Still surpriced by the fact Imsomniac has this as a XBoxOne exclusive, This game could really be a lot of fun, hope to see more of this game. I see shooter elements, hack and slash, gliders.. A bit of everything. October 31. 399.99 Bundle as well.

Halo, Yeah Halo = Halo, new improved visuals, looking awesome, 4 games for the price of 1. I think this will sell a lot. And also Beta Access to Halo 5. Not my kind game though (as i pointed out earlier I am not that into 1st person shooters myself), Also the Halo Channel, Halo Nightfall, I am sure a lot of Halo fans will love this. But all the Halo talking did take a long time, i know there are a lot of Halo parts covered. But for me as a non 1st person shooter lover, 30 min of Halo is a long long time :)

Conclusion: It was a nice presentation after the really boring start, almost nothing I did not expected.

Only 2 things surpriced me:

  • Tomb Raider being exclusive. But with only Art-Work i really cant judge it, but i never expected that one.
  • Quantum Break gameplay, this was impressive for sure.

TOMB RAIDER save that conference

”The environment where PlayStation wins is best for this industry” (Jack Tretton, 2009)

8/10 for me! Conference dragged until Tomb Raider announcement, but then wow! BQ, Sunset, Ori, bundles, Forza, Halo, and pre-order/pre-load! Looking nice!

i was not blown away from Quantum break gameplay
maybe it was just a boring slow phased part of the game
Need more info. right now i would not buy full launch price

positive suprise: scream Tycoon

ori is still a must buy for 20 bucks

I agree. MS had a fantastic Gamescom conference. Imo it was much better than their E3. 9/10.

I don't think Sony tops this. Unfortunately they don't have to. MS saw that price equality didn't help so they threw more money in the pit.

I agree on it being better then E3 for sure. But for me personally to give it higher then a 7 is really hard. But 7 is really a nice number for me. Way above average.

For it to go higher it would have needed for example NEW AAA Exclusive Announcements and/or another pricedrop. Tomb Raider was already announced and it shocked everyone it went from a multiplat (what it was first announced as) to exclusive.

MS has committed the same mistake from their E3 conference: playing it too safe. Both this and their E3 conferences were good, but they didn't really pull off huge surprises. The vast majority of the games they showed were those we've already seen and known. The only part that really took me by surprise was Quantum Break and man, did it look good.

Still, their conference is a 7/10.

Yeah. At first I wrote 8/10 and a 7 may be fair as well. I just suck at giving scores to MS because I'm usually so much more excited for the reveals at PlayStation. I tend to add 1-2 points to MS to compensate for my bias x} Besides I really like Tomb Raider! :D :(

In defense of a high score they had a great show with focus on games. Exclusive TR2, Quantum Break gameplay and 2 cool bundles (Halo and SO). It would've been nice with a new AAA IP. You're definitely right about that.
