JRPG's by 100x's
And JRPG's can be really long too if you complete them in their entirety...I have 190 hours in FFXII and still haven't beaten the game.

WRPGS - JRPGS are just too linear for my tastes.
Also to me the whole point of RPGs is to create and assume a character identity and then play it out. Bioware makes great games for that and Fable is good too. In JRPGs there's no roleplaying. Not in any I've ever seen anyway.
WRPG but im looking into getting into playing more JRPG's

Well, I've never really been able to get too deep into any of the WRPGs that I've played, and I've played too few JRPGs to form a good opinion, but I'd have to go with JRPGs simply due to artstyle.
I'll get back to this question after I've played ES, VotB, and WKS this year. :D And Baten Kaitos, if I ever get around to ordering it.
RPGs with turn based battles. The country of origin is of no real importance to me.
The thing that pissed me off about games like Baulders gate is they turned D&D into an action RPG setting when i'd rather have... you know... true to D&D style combat.

I haven't had a real girth of experience with the genres until recently. I have purchased and played perhaps half a dozen of these games in the last few years, and I have found that there are high notes and low notes in both genres.
Right now I prefer Lost Odyssey over Mass Effect, but I prefer Mass Effect over Blue Dragon. However I prefer the two installments in the Old Republic series over all the recent arrivals. Yet I enjoy Oblivion the least. So I am not finding any real differentiation. I suppose that means I sit on the fence. I will not like a game, because it is at either end of the spectrum.
Further more I would say the distinction is difficult to see. Knight of the Old Republic is far closer to Lost Odyssey then it is to Oblivion. Mass Effect is closer to Oblivion then it is to Knights of the Old Republic. Obviously this is a issue of presentation. Basically how close to a narrative does a game remain.
Titles like Mass Effect and Oblivion aren't very attached to their narratives. Filled with aimless wondering, and what basically amounts to filler material. The side questing far eclipses the central story line. I think I crave a more structured presentation, and that isn't dependent on genre.
I definately prefer JRPG over WRPG game. I prefer the Linearity of the game because of the story and character devolpment. I enjoy games like Suikoden, Wild Arms, and Star Ocean.
