Earthquake Strikes Parts of England

NEW YORK (AP) — An earthquake struck in England early Wednesday and was reportedly felt across large parts of the country, geological officials and the BBC reported.

The 4.7-magnitude quake struck at about 1 a.m. and was centered about 125 miles north of London, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Earthquakes are no biggie, when they happen here you just hold on to something then when its done you proceed with the day as nothing happened.

Felt ot here near Leicester. I've felt a few earthquakes before but this one was definately the strongest. They're so rare here I didn't know what it was at first, I looked out of my window for an overturned lorry or exploded gas pipe or something.

1 am is when late afternoon TV starts in England vagabond. We are a backwards country.

Its 2.30am now, and the reason we are awake is quite obvious. (We just had a fairly big Earthquake, in fact one of the biggest Earthquakes in the UK history).

I just read that buildings in the UK tend to colapse at around 5 on the richter scale. This was 4.7!

I actually thought it was some big prank being played on me at first (I'm in student halls) until everyone came out of their roomsto chat about it.
