I consider the whole situation silly and just wish it would end and we could get back to normal again.

You can't turn the beef mince back into an alive cow. West started the Ukraine shit turning down Yanucovich literally illegal and for nothing. Then those stupid sanctions - now they get a feedback. Hopefully the situation will normalize more or less, but it will never be the same as 1 year ago.

All revolutions are illegal, lol

Ukraine have systematically overthrown their corrupt govts. They have their own aspirations and it just happens they prefer to partner with the west.

Russia cannot handle a democracy so close to it's borders, it would give russians "bad" ideas.

Give this man a cigar!  The only difference between a "terrorist" or "traitor" and a "revolutionary hero" is who gets to write the history books at the end!

People seem to forget that the founders of the United States of America were traitors to Britain!  Oh, and that "Boston Tea Party" incident that some are recalling for their (deranged) branch of the Republican Party?  If anyone did anything similar today, it wouldn't be labled "Patriotism"!

all that is requested of russia is stop considering neighbouring countries as its' backyard

Is the same requested from the USA (once they consider the rest of the world their backyard)?

so economy is your specialty and you don't think prices will go up ?

ok, that will be easy to verify

Why prices should go up? :O Food market over here for the most part does not depend on imports, sanctioned food imports that worth a few billions of euros won't make a dent in a 200 bln food market. Yes speculative price bumps are possible here and there, that will probably will be blown out of proportions, but even that only within relatively pricey food categories with high percentage of imports like wine. Russian economy is self-suficient in terms of food production of all major food categories outside probably certain types of meat, that could be overcomed by import diversification and ramping up local production eventually.

UPD. Yeah, I was right meat is the only major food category that has relatively high imports share, around 30%.

In other "news" we've finally managed to reach meat consumption levels of USSR back in 1990. I'm surprised :D

There's never going to be a "normal." The world isn't that peachy, sadly.

No. I think prices can go up a bit, but it won't have a significant effect on average Russian.

Btw, If you interested, we can make a list of some products, I'll go to the shop and check the prices. And then I'll do the same in a half a year, to see the changes. Also you can do the same with a salaries of you and your friends!

there are easier ways

in any case yes i would be interested to have an insight - i have a few russian friends here in brussels but their view wouldn't be as authentic

what i would really be interested in knowing is the actual evolution of the debate in russia, which part of russia are you from ?
