Where did you hear this!?!  I pre-ordered the game a few weeks ago, and I hope I didn't miss out on anything pre-ordering so early.

Yeah Im thinking something like this HAS to happen. I dont think they are giving away MGS4 for free, but even if the 80gb drops to 399, 499 is still a good deal for special edition PS3,DS3, and MGS4 included.

If sony is not able to offer similar sku with BC for PAL then I will purchase this bundle from USA !!!

u get a better game and a better paddle for the same price

It's mentioned at all the same places the new PS3 bundle is. Personally, I don't think you're missing too much. For one thing, the GoW PSP comes out two months after the game does, and who wants to wait? I also think the Daxter bundle is still a little better value, since it comes with a memory stick.

The new bundle is a hell of a lot better than that crap Star Wars one though.

 

Yeah Im thinking something like this HAS to happen. I dont think they are giving away MGS4 for free, but even if the 80gb drops to 399, 499 is still a good deal for special edition PS3,DS3, and MGS4 included.

Since the $399 PS3 would still include a Sixaxis, wouldn't that make the value of the MGS4 bundle only about $465? You'd be better off buying the stuff separately, unless the $499 bundle has some kind of limited edition PS3 model with Snake's ass stenciled on the side.

The bundle is much better than their lame motorstorm bundle, but it's still very expensive.

I can't help but wonder if propelling MGS4 into "bundled" status ensured exclusivity.  It will *certainly* boost sales bigtime.

Well, I can also continue to wait lol

I don't see why you would do that:

1- You can't play European PS1/PS2 games nor movies (region lock).

2- Considering the shipping fees from USA, and possible customs taxes, I doubt it would be cheaper than buying a PS3 and the game separately. Don't forget that you'd need a power converter too (110 V to 230 V).

From the IGN article, it's starting to sound like they've changed their minds about it. I'm ok with that -- I'd prefer MGS4 to a few extra gigabytes -- but I did expect the replacement for the Motorstorm bundle to be out a little earlier than June.

Update:   The PS blog says that the PS3 in the bundle is the same 80gb unit we're used to, i.e. the one with limited backwards compatibility. No surprises there, I guess. It is a little ironic though, that the Metal Gear Solid PS3 won't be able to play Metal Gear Solid 3. Maybe they'll get that straightened out before release for the sake of PR...
