Forums - Gaming - Sony bringing Donkey Kong to the big screen

Cool. Nintendo should do this more often to make some easy money.

So... big names as the voices? A shame, could have been good. Generally the best animated films are the ones will little known actors in it. They don't outshine the production and the money isn't spent on them.

Hmm, pie.

Nintendo gave them permission for this? Wow.

Yeah, if they gave permission for Wreck It Ralph, why not?  I read an article when that movie came out that said Nintendo send the producers a memo about what Bowser should look like when he tolds a cup of coffee, and what his mannerisms would be.

It also makes sense given their announcement in January to have more licensing opportunities for their character IP outside of merely video games.

Wreck-It-Ralph wan't made by a competing rival in the videogame business

Movies/TV shows are a bit different. ILM, Lucas' effect company did nearly all the Star Trek films. Companies care about money. Not wars.

First Ratchet and Clank and Sly and now Donkey Kong! awesome :)

you forgot Heavenly Sword... :D

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

Sigh, with Adam Sandler. Let's hope that he doesn't have multiple roles...

Sounds like an A.W.E.S.O.M-O movie idea...

Sony Pictures belongs to the same corporation, but it is an entirely seperate organization.  And since Nintendo does not compete in film whatsoever, then there is no conflict of interest or competition here.  They are licensing out use of their character for a film, doesn't really matter that it is a Sony picture or a Disney picture.  If Nintendo felt that it would damage their IP, then they wouldn't have given permission.

It's a mutually beneficial deal.  Nintendo makes some money from lending DK to a film, which also gains one of their characters more exposure, and Sony gets an additional character that's going to add to the popularity of their film.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Sony and Nintendo, sitting in a tree

PSWII CONFIRMED

I doubt that it will be PSWii but this is my theory:

If Ninty and Sony were to tean up and make one console. Hmm? All Sony consoles have PS in it and the latest Ninty console has U. You know what else is U? YOU! What is the first letter and towards the end of the alphabet? Y! Wait so this means...PSY?! He is Korean not japenese, and Japan never approved of Gangam style. But this will be his attempt to enter the Japanese market. He will become the CEO of both Sony and Ninty and will release the PSY!!!!!! Wait one second! PSY? P.S.Y. 3 letters. The word letter has 6 letters. 6 ÷ 3 = 2! Valve has 2 famous games that are practically instinct both ending with two and the next entries will be the third. Half Life 3 and Portal 3 confirmed!!!!!

Adam Sandler, huh?

And Kevin James, too.

(shudders)

Hey, he was good in Hitch

While fanboys jump in the throats of each other, Nintendo and Sony do a movie deal. Ninty will get some licensing participation and will surely be involved with character creation, since they are very protective about their IP (a pretty good trait).
