Good comparison on GPUs. Anyone thinking that either the PS4 or the Xbox One is equivalent to a high end PC, or even a mid end PC is flat out wrong.

Spec dependant, high-end, I agree. Mid range, I don't. The PS4's GPU, for example, is the equivalent to a HD 7850 (currently, a mid-ranged card). They're growing outdated by the minute, yes, but it's not flat out wrong to consider "mid-ranged" as a label.

A 7850 was on the lower end of mid-range cards last generation of GPUs, let alone this generation. In today's market the 760 or 7950 would be considered mid-end, while the 7850 would be considered lower middle-end or upper lower-end.

$200 is entry level?
And second of all, the fact that we can get a better GPU for a "few hundred dollars more" is so ridiculous to bring up. Why did they even bother?

(people had no problem paying "a few hundred dollars more" last gen to get the PS3 over the 360 when it came out)

Blu-ray...

Blu-ray was a factor, just like SSDs are today on PC. I remember a lot of people drooling over the Cell processor though, and gladly shelling out the $200 more to get the PS3.

But the Wii U GPU is the best technically.

A 7850 "low-end last gen"? Definitely not.

Also, read the edit. The entirety of these machines, at worst, are mid-ranged PCs.

I said "lower mid-end" for the last generation of GPUs (2 years ago), not low-end.

By today's standards, it's one of the lower-specced mid-end GPUs available to purchase. The 7870, 7950, 7970, 270x, 280x, 290x, 670, 680, 760, 770, and 780 are all better options than the 7850, which puts in firmly in the lower mid-end GPU market.

Because with that GPU you get a lot more performance (people had no problem paying "a few hundred dollars more" last gen to get the PS3 over the 360 when it came out). Plus, a PC is used for more than just gaming. A high-end PC can be built for $800-900 that will outpace either the PS4 or the Xbone for years to come. Not to mention that the software is much cheaper, and online is free. And PC is backwards compatible with games of all generations, and even older consoles.

Comparing a 500$ video card to a 200$ is just ridiculous to me.

I'm quite aware of what a PC can do.

A high-end card starts at $299 for the 280x, not $500.

Sorry for any misunderstanding though.

I was talking about the R9 290X.  It was the one that was in the article.

Ah. Well, the 7970 is mentioned as well, and the 280x and the 7970 are equivalent GPUs.

Between PS4's and X1's. NO WiiU. Did you not read the title or my posts asking not go off topic? If not, NOW you know.
