Forums - Sony - Blu-ray advantage starting to shine in games?

Uh, no it doesn't...Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are both on 4 disc on the 360...FOUR!

Is Overlord a 40+ hour title with several hours of FMW in the game?

Horse=Apple.

BTW, Blue Dragon was three discs.

@Rocketpig...

I feel sort of insulted if you're calling me a fanboy...lol...I'm far from it. (But I suppose you wouldn't know that since I"m relatively new here)

I love my 360! In fact, Lost Odyssey is my FAVORITE GAME OF THE NEXT GEN SO FAR.

Sorry about Blue Dragon mess up...haven't played it in a few months.

It just proves that I'm NOT a fanboy of any console because I'm willing to admit that blu-ray does have its advantages.

I honestly see advantages to having a HD media for next gen consoles. That's no jab to the 360--it's my honest opinion. Then we can avoid having 4 discs like Lost Odyssey has.

Each of the consoles has their strengths and weaknesses...I'm just not afraid to admit it that they do.

Everybody is so damn defensive of their consoles...it's funny.

And if somebody doesn't believe me...look me up:

DragonLord, I wasn't accusing you of anything other than comparing two vastly different games. To my knowledge, BD and LO are the only multi-disc games on the 360.

When 2 games out of over 500 are multi-disc, I do not consider it a problem.

If games like Mass Effect fit on one DVD, Overlord sure wouldn't have any problems, with or without the DLC.

Just another case of a fanboy adding 1 and 1 and coming up with 3 as the logical answer.

 Sorry for the misunderstanding...I thought this post was directed at me since I was the OP.

 Apparently you meant, PS3Fanboy site itself.

Uh, no it doesn't...Blue Dragon (As corrected, 3) and Lost Odyssey are both on 4 disc on the 360...FOUR!

They're RPGs. They have a history of being on multiple discs because of the amount of video on them. Overlord is not that big of a game for a couple of extra levels and some multiplayer maps to affect it being on one disc. My point was that much larger and better looking games have appeared on the 360 on one disc. You decide to put the one or two cherries to try and prove me wrong. GTAIV will be one disc, now tell me Overlord is bigger than that.

If you don't want to look like a fanboy, next time get your news from somewhere other than "PS3 Fanboy" which will obviously try to spin the news in the PS3's favor. Do you even look at the original article on CVG? It mentions nothing about the 360 not being able to handle Overlord on one disc. You're posting misinformation to bulk up that Blu-Ray is so much better. Even the title of your post shows your bias. It's obvious that the title should have been "Overlord coming to the PS3!" but you mention Overlord NOWHERE in the title, because all you wanted to do was point out the superiority of PS3 over 360.

In addition, Blue-Ray starting to shine in games would have nothing to do with disc space. I don't think anyone had issues popping in two or more discs for the following games: Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 2, Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 4 on Gamecube, etc. etc. Trust me, the list could be much longer.

Next time, try not to let your bias show through, because some people would have been excited about Overlord coming to the PS3 but will never know that has anything to do with your topic.

As stated, the 360 does not use HD DVD's for games. And indeed DVD is about 9GB, but we don't know how much space the game by itself takes up, and then add on to that the downloadable content. So it might be less that 9GB, but chances are it's more, in which case a Blu-ray disc has an advantage.

That's just it: chances are it wasn't over ~8.5GB of information (the true size of DVD-9). Mass Effect, Forza, every game that doesn't use FMV extensively has fit on one DVD on the 360. Shit, GTA IV is gonna fit on one disc, too.

Overlord was not that big of a game and as far as I know, their DLC was not very substantial. This is a gimmick to try to get people to buy the game again by adding content and releasing late on another system. It's done all the time, both for and against the 360.

 I hope it doesn't, if it does it really restricts what us PS3 owners consoles are capable of. Imagaine 50GB of city to travel around.... It'd be amazing!

Imagine the $100 million budget and 6 year developmental time that Rockstar doesn't have the time nor the money to complete.

Lol...you obviously didn't read the exchange I had with Rocketpig...

I love the 360 dearly! I camped out in the frigid air just to get one (17 hours)...and Lost Odyssey is my FAVORITE NEXT GEN GAME EVER--any console included....And I'd wager I have more 360 games than 90% of the people on this website...(26 games...not bad xbox collection...)

I'm not being biased towards the ps3, so this shouldn't ruin anything for anybody...it was actually YOU that came into this thread with nothing good to say and started to derail it and argue with everyone...so please leave it! This article was posted in the Sony section of the forums...not the MS or Wii section...so buzz off.

I was simply quoting AN ARTICLE FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE. So do NOT point fingers at me buddy. Grow up and go read the 360 articles if you just want to harass a ps3 thread. I would have quoted a "less" ps3 oriented website if I had seen that the article was available somewhere else, but I didn't realize it was from CVG...I just copied and pasted it without digging through a billion links.

I've got better things to do than argue on the Internet, but I also won't take insults from someone that doesn't know anything about me or my gaming preferences-- but simply doesn't like the ps3 so has his feelings hurt if somebody thinks that blu-ray is good for gaming.

Although I DO love my 360, I do think that there are huge advantages to having blu-ray media on the ps3.

Here's another example from just a couple days ago and it's not an RPG: http://www.n4g.com/News-114894.aspx

If you disagree about advantages with blu-ray...then just ignore the thread instead of derailing it and starting an argument in it.

Anyhow, I wash my hands of this thread and won't respond to anyone in it...best way to end this folly because some people don't see reason. If mods want to close it, do so.
