Maybe people just find it to be mediocre to bad

But its not mediocre or bad. That's just the impression people get based on interweb comments.

Its no GTA, but still a noteworthy game in that genre.

Yes you are the voice of the people, you know better than the people. Not the people in real life I know that played it or the reviews by reviewers or players. Groupthink or not, the game will have a sequel that will stand on its own, and im sure Ubi has already made a ton of money off this.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

You sir are correct on the opinion thing, but even the reviews averaged to 8/10 which made your point a bit counter productive by mentioning them.  =P

The game IN MY OPINION is solid, but like 99% of the games out there it isn't for everyone.  Of course there are people who will not like it.  I just feel that the game got much more hate than it truely deserved after actually playing the game.  I personally feel it is a much more complete and full experience than Titanfall (no single player and the game gets old after a few weeks if your not a hardcore shooter fan, and I mean HARDCORE) or even Infamous for that matter (seeing how Infamous had less content than WD and also had unoriginal side content).  That said there is no denying that ALL THREE are very good games in their own respect, regardless of what some of my friends think about any of them.

I think this is the point Puggsly was trying to make.  =)

Actually, I think the hate for it is over-hyped. A lot of people bought it and a lot of people seem to like it. Much of the hate I've seen has come from people who didn't buy it, which is kind of par for the course. Now, that's not to disregard the opinions of those who did not buy it, as many have justifiable reasons why they did not want to play the game, but there definitely is a segment that hates because they want to hate. Also, remember that we are on a Nintendo heavy forum, so it's not uncommon to see certain third-party publishers get flamed automatically.

Personally, I don't have much interest in the game but that's because I don't usually like GTA-type games. I'll probably try it eventually, as I don't care about the graphical downgrade or the hype/anti-hype in the slightest.

It was a solid game overall, I certainly enjoyed it. Ubisoft screwed themselves over by showing something entirely different at E3, though.
