Forums - Sony - LittleBigPlanet, Priced & Could be the PS3's Biggest Game

Lets say Mario G only sold 3milly right now. I would consider it a bomb forsure.

Im not bagging on R & C but it came out a month or 2 b4 SMG and is at less than 1M?
Im sorry but my high standards, for a great game like Ratchet and Clank telling me flop-o-mania. When the greatest hits version comes out for $30 I assume ppl will buy?

I don't think it will bomb outright, but it's only going to ironically appeal to the hardcore gamers that are on the net visiting forums like this.

LBP does not feature guns, burly men, ninjas, ninjas with guns, the military, realistic car models, big guns, a storyline with lots of men in heroic situations, stealth guns, swords, or bullets. What it is, is a unique 2d platformer with adorable graphics. And because of that it's going to turn off a very large portion of the PS3s demographic outside of enthusiasts that have been following the game on the web since it's inception. I don't see the average 18 year old COD4, or resistance fan seeing LBP and thinking "SWEET, I've been wanting an adorable looking 2d platformer that I can use to trade levels with my buddies!" I think it looks like an awesome game, but I just don't think it's going to be the phenomenon that people on the interwebs think it will be.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

ofcourse I will show LBP to my friends and I already know, that they will love it to death aswell

Well if we're going to use ratchet tools of destruction as the catalyst on whether or not this game will do well then lets look at the ps3 installed base. It was about 2 million in USA when r and c came out and r and c launched at about 75k. I dont know but lets say the ps3 installed base is about 5 million sept. 08 by the time the game comes out. Wouldnt lbps launch be at least double that of r&c times another .5? Haha idk how to do this crap.

I just think it will launch at whatever 75k times 2.5 equals.

I can't wait for this game. :D

LBP looks like a very fun game, but it's showing all the signs of an under-appreciated cult classic, and even inventing entirely new ones.

There are at least two games coming to the PS3 this year that will sell at least 3M, and I can just barely see LBP ever hitting a million if it's lucky. It boggles the mind how anyone could consider it the biggest game of the year, even in PR speak.

To be fair, not many children own $400 consoles.

But its attach rate per console was still about equal with Bioshock, so it didn't do THAT bad.  And your comparing Ratchet and Clank to what really is the only worthwhile game on the Wii besides Zelda. It was more hyped and, come on, its the first sequel to the most popular platformer ever since the N64.

It's my personal favorite game for sure, but on an objective level, I believe it will sell considerably less than GTA IV, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MGS4, and several other major releases this year.

This thing should be on Wii for adequate targeting.
With PS3 it won't take off, here goes another Sony loss.
