Forums - Gaming - (first PS4 game) So I'm playing Killzone Shadowfall....

Tagged games:

I got Killzone Shadow Fall at launch.

Tried the single player and had hard time in the second level due to the open non-linear structure and no map with clear nav points and pretty big map and no visual indicators for navigational paths.

Tried the competitive multiplayer which I found better than CoD and Battlefield, but online competitive is really not my thing. I'll play it for a little bit, but I don't see the point of repeating the same maps and modes and gameplay over and over for extended periods of time just to XP grind for unlocks or challenge grind (in KZ case) for unlocks.

So I moved on to other games

Recently they released the Intercept online co-op mode, so I got back in, and I have been thoroughly enjoying it. I am someone that really enjoyed the Destiny Alpha playing Strike mission with friends, and KZ Intercept mode is better than the Destiny Strike mission. That said, you can only play the same 4 maps so many times before you get too good and it stops being as fun. The thing where Destiny will still ultimately be better is it will have more maps/missions and the RPG like progression to keep things more fresh.

Yes i really love this game, only game I'm currently playing, but yes multilayer is lacking players, but u can still find lots of games. I actually like the story, with all the twist and turns, but could of been better.

This may sound random, but consider investing in a headset. Nothing too expensive. Get something like the PS Gold wireless headset. Its around $99. Using this for gaming will completely change the way you look at sound in games.

Shadowfall was the first fps I played. I liked it more than I thought I would. Some levels designs are incredible. Personally I like the slower tone of the gameplay, and the Owl is great addition.

Welcome to the PS4 Brotherhood. I think enough people liked Shadow Fall to warrant a sequel, but I personally thought the single-player campaign is the worst campaign I've ever experienced. I kept hoping that it would get better, but it never did. Fuck that game.

Hopefully, the next one (probably done by a team other than GG) goes back to the Killzone 2/3 style of campaign.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I liked Shadow Fall, it just wasn't as good as I hoped. But in all seriousness it's my fault for hyping myself up to unrealistic levels. It was certainly a decent 1 type playthrough and OK MP. 7.5/10

Play Wolfenstein the New Order. It's incredible. Played it through 3 times without even taking a break for another game. It destroys Killzone.  Also, with regards to the Gold headset.  At least for me, it is not loud enough.  I have been destroying my hearing for 15-20 years with heavy metal, gun shooting etc., but IMO, they do not go loud enough volume of basswise for me.  There are better alternatives.

I think the story was pretty good from what I played... 8 is a pretty fair score I might give it a little lower due to issues I have with the game MP, co-op, game breaking experience in campaign. Overall a very solid entry into the series and MP is a lot of fun when working properly, co-op is a lot of fun as well though I was expecting options for customizing my classes.

... and to be honest, after all the that has been said about the game, I'm enjoying it far more then expected. I bought a PS4 this week with only that game so far and I have a few PSN games as well.

Graphics: 9/10

At first I wasn't really shocked. Everything seemed average however after a while and returning to previous gen you really see the big difference. And the smooth framerate makes me enjoy both SP and MP.

Gameplay: 9/10

A Killzone game as expected gameplay wise although an even heftier feeling would be my preference. MP gameplay is different and I really enjoy it. Unfortunate that not more people are playing the MP

Story: 6/10

Really lacking, not a structure although certain points by knowing the Killzone history (as a fan like me) makes it help though.

Sound: 9/10

Wow, most amazing part of the game I think. Sound is for me really important just like smooth gameplay without any bugs.

Overall: 8/10

I got Killzone:SF at launch, the game surprised me, I had a great time with it and many of the missions are worth playing again from time to time, because the maps are large and open you can tackle the objectives in many different ways and in whatever order you please!

However, it has a few downsides, some missions are just boring (all the flying/low gravity stuff is horrible) and as you noted, the story is just plain horrible!

Still a 7 or 8 is fair for the game, I wish they made a sequel that did not feel rushed.

I enjoyed Killzone SF enough for 2 playthroughs, the variety in gameplay and settings keeps it interesting.
And I agree that sound is the best part, I was just popping off bullets to hear the sound change based on your exact position to walls and different rooms. Loved the lighting too in the spaceship level, great soundtrack too.

"pooping off bullets"? 9/10
