Wii U's numbers are due to doom and gloom, while everybody else's numbers are due to "slow summer months guys obviously they are low"

Eeyup.

That's actually pretty accurate. I'm not concerned about X1 or PS4. WiiU is a different story. But even that isn't so surprising. Aside from the Wii fad, Nintendo hasn't been the market leader in home consoles for a long time. Look at the GameCube.

It's funny because xbox has never been the market leader period and it seems you are forgetting Sony wasn't the market leader for over 8 years until this year and every nintendo home console turned a profit Sony and Microsoft no.....lost billions also it's funny how a lot of people wanna say it was a fad no it wasn't 100,000,000 consoles is no fad ....it was called innovation motion controlled games something that wasn't done well until nintendo perfected it .....

Shouldn't Xbone be higher? Its price was cut 25% and there's no major bump. Europe still clearly doesn't give a fu**. Is MS running out of options here?

Its higher than the 360 at the same time of year in 2006 without all of the countries.

Do you even bother to check the data before you post things like this?

3 June 2006  - 85K

10 June 2006 - 81K

17 June 2006 - 80K

24 June 2006 - 78K

Xb one is not doing better than 360 at the same time of year in 2006. You might have an argument that if Xb one was in all the countries the nummbers would be much closer. But that is a total unknown and at this time of year the 40 markets where Xb one isn't might only account for 2000 consoles.

Xbox 360's first summer never went below 70K. Indeed the next time 360 goes below 70K is 18 May 2007. It will be interesting to see if Xb one can stay above 70K for so long. Do you know when 360 had its first ever sub 50K week? 13 march 2014. How many sub 50K weeks has Xb one had already? 6 of them. 5 consecutive weeks. There is a very good reason MS ditched autobundled Kinect: because their projections were showing that staying with Kinect at a higher price than PS4 meant Xb one would probably be the last Xbox console because sales were looking that bad.

Lol you wrote all that for nothing, if you kept reading the posts you would see I was responding to his Europe statement.

Gasp you are right!...for only one week (this week) and by a massive 600 units. If you want to consider Europe consider that X360 never dropped below 15K in Europe until this year, Xb one has already had 2 sub 10K weeks. Countries, countries, countries, I'll concede 1K consoles per week for the countries where Xb one is not officially selling. It would still mean Xb one has had a number of sub 15K weeks (possibly as many as 12), which is an arbitrary floor through which 360 never fell during the whole of the 7th generation. Do not kid yourself that these last 2 week of Kinectless sales has some how meant Xb one is on the map in Europe and aiming to sell like the 360 over its lifetime. Xb one is in for a rough ride in Europe IMO.

Do you think Xb one will fall below 15K again this year in Europe? I think with a dry July it will.

Ahem! 80 million consoles thank you. Nintendo was probably going to sell 20 million Wii's without the fad factor. A one generation wonder is the very definition of a fad. The fact that motion controls are now passe is also the definition of a fad. 4 years of amazing sales in the context of console history is a fad. When the history of gaming consoles is written in 20 years fad is the word the historians will use to describe the Wii phenomenon. When you can't carry over your install based to the next generation your success the previous generation is a fad. The fact that Wii tailed off terribly long before Wii U launched means it was a fad. The fact that PS3 and 360 both outsold Wii in 2011 and 2012 means it was a fad.

Lol a fad is something that is hot for a moment and fades ...100,000,000 people is not a fad sorry any way you cut it or  spin it so with your so called definition of fad I can call the ps2 a fad with the DVD player so if it didn't have a DVD player it would have sold only 100,000,000 see how that works lol because Sony lost almost have there fan base from ps2 to ps3 (154,000,000 to "80,000,000)it was a fad "... lol and you are wearing that ps3 and xbox360 outsold wii for 2 years like its a badge of honor what about the first 6 years lol and everyone knows nintendo stop supporting the wii in the last year in a half lol all consoles fade off the last couple of years lol nothing new or different from. any other console

Yeah without the fad Nintendo would have continued on its steady decline of home console sales gen after gen. Wii U is just showing the pattern of how the console after GC should have sold. The average gamer is in his late 30s and Nintendo still hasn't caught on to that. They still see their consoles as toys.

You And I might disagree on quite a few things here but this is 100% on the money imo.

Which is exactly what happened to the Wii as seen by the last couple years and how the Wii U is selling. I dont care what anyone tells you, 4  million consoles sold in the first full year is not an achievement.

It's funny whenever this discussion comes up it's always nintendo fad with wii...it's like everyone wants to omit the wii  lol every generation had some type of innovation whether it is a controller ,better graphics ,DVD player whatever that sells a system .....I can say the same argument with the playstation console sales have declined from the previous generation just like I can say Microsoft console sales have increased every generation so far ...shrugs lol
