I need help deciding what I should get a new laptop Windows 8 or a iPad.I use it for surfing,emailing,I don't type a lot of docs but would pages work?

Get a laptop.
Or I'd also recommend a Microsoft Surface Pro. Its a tablet and has almost all the functions of a laptop.

I had an iPad Air but it cannot replace a laptop by any means.
Buy a laptop or a MacBook Air.
If you choose Windows 8, get a HP. Avoid asian brands.
