Forums - Gaming - Xbox One Huge Day 1 Patch Woes Continue With Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

So is the story of the digital age of gaming. Due to the on schedule crunch time nature of making big games, this is what you get. I feel publishers are so worried about money loss on games due to delays that this will become the norm for this gen.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Microsoft’s Xbox One seems to be one console which usually needs a huge sized patch for most of its games on day 1. The two recent games that come to mind are Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark and Sniper Elite 3.

huh?! that doesnt make sense! its not the consoles issue its the devs issue, how are they seriously pinning this on the xbox one?

PS4 has large updates too but not as large as X1's. Even X1 exclusives have had huge updates.

we really shouldnt judge by launch tittles, because those were a special case for both PS4 and XB1 were hardware wasnt finalized until a few months before launch and software want finished by then either. however, a day one patch isnt the consoles fault, its the devs fault. yes, installs are very slow on XB1 thats true, and it is a problem, but the XB1 can run a game without a day one patch if the game didnt have one, so if there is a day one patch, its certainly entirely the devs decision to have it.

I agree, but its still a big disadvantage of owning both the PS4 and X1. And some of these updates are actually just DLC. Microsoft should make some rule that stops developers from releasing updates that are just DLC.

All games are 'Early Access'. :)

Hmm, pie.

They are probably sending these games to gold before they are done and then patching in the rest of the game.

This is exactly what's happening. It's a $$$ issue. Lesser titles are shoved out the door early for many reasons, in this case it appears that it would be wise to coincide with the movie release as much as possible. Other reasons are to avoid other large releases, to avoid releasing late in the case of big holiday titles (bf4? Lol), etc.

huh? why? thats the best part of updates, getting more content. and games like Minecraft would be fucked if that happened. DLC updates have their disadvantage sure, but they also have a huge advantage of having more gameplay elements added. as a PS4 owner this isnt much of an issue because i have that feature that downloads and installs updates automatically when the console is powered off.
