also, because the ps4 has already done this upgrade fee thing before, i don't see how it's silly to assume that something could also be in place for TLOU. How do you guys think gamers would of felt buying those ps3 games late gen, and having to pay full price again for the ps4 HD versions. BF4, COD:G, AC.. A shitstorm with publicity would of hurt those games had they forced gamers to rebuy the next gen version of the same game they already purchased, but they did right with the $10 upgrade fee.. don't see why Sony couldnt do the same thing.

The problem is I can buy the PS3 disk version of TLoU for < $20 used now, and then upgrade to the PS4 version for $10.  Why would anyone buy the game new, when they can just get one of the 6M used copies and upgrade?

The $10 upgrade at launch was only on a limited quantity of games that launched on the old generation, and then came out on the new generation a month later.  There are a lot of last-gen ports coming that will have the same situation as TLoU.  Tomb Raider, GTAV, Metro, Shadow warrior, etc.  None of them will have $10 upgrades.

yes, but if those article discussing the game saves and DLC content transferring over from ps3 to ps4 is true also, then even if you upgrade $10 for the game, the fact that you didn't purchase the DLC could come at an additional cost.  My thing is if I already have the game and the DLC, then why wouldn't it make sense for a $10-$20 upgrade fee?  You buy TLOU used for $20, but the DLC costs anywhere from $10-$15 bucks.  $20 if you buy the season pass.  You would already of spent $40 bucks or more for the game and additional content.  how is $10 for this circumstance out of the realm?  If anything.. with exisiting season pass, upgrade = $10.  Without season pass/missing DLC, upgrade = ~$20-25.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

I am not disagreeing with your arguement for wanting a cheaper price, i am just stating why you are not going to get it.

If $50 is too much for the game, then wait until the end of the year when it will be $25.

Buying - bought the game not the DLC
i was going to buy the DLC but then this remaster was announced. I was also going to play it a 4th time but then..you get the jist. now i've been holding it in but i really want to play it again >_> even despite currently playing a bunch of games

I don't understand how they can give people upgrade options outside of their digital purchases. They can't retroactively give people who bought a new physical copy a digital code like with the other upgrade options.

True, this is another problem. They could offer an upgrade program for people who owned the digital version of the game, but then there would be an uproar from physical version owners.

And if they would offer upgrades for everyone, we all know that a shit ton of people would take advantage of it by buying used PS3 TLoU's.

people seem to forget that TLoU actually had an online pass. so anyone who bought TLoU new would have entered the online pass, whoever has the online pass they can buy the upgrade plan.

I bought the CE edition for 150 and season pass so I have a good amount into the game but I do plan on buying it again because of the MP. Though I'm waiting for a deal where I can get it for $30

You really should not complain about game price.

Here I have to pay 35 pounds for a new copy of the PS3 version which is 60USD.

How much do you think the ps4 version is going to fetch me back?

my complaint isn't really game pricing.  it's rebuying a 1 year old game that you already bought.. personally, i just believe it would make more sense to offer an upgrade fee.  you keep your game.. you upgrade... you continue to play your game on the newer system.  sony wins because not only will previous owners and the ps3 community move over.. they will get additional monies from previous owners.  Sony is more than likely not going to get many of those already bought buyers to rebuy the same game, even if it's a visual upgrade @ $50.  don't get me wrong, $50 is awesome if you never played/bought the game, because you not only get the game but also all the DLCs along with it.  but if they offered an upgrade fee, then those that already have it are more than likely to buy the upgrade and they get to keep what they already have.

So to comment on your 2nd comment (I'll be using US pricing):  You just bought a new/used game for $40/$20.  You buy the season pass for it.. which puts your total at $60/$40.  You want to play it on the ps4.. are you willing to shell out another $50 for the same content but prettier graphics?  if you did.. you just paid $110/$90 total for the same game and content, but now you have one for the ps3 and one for the ps4.  Ok.. so you decide you'll sell your PS3 game and buy it for the PS4.  You go to gamestop and they give you ~$10-15 back for it (optimistic number.. more than likely less than $10 if you can buy it used for $20.. also I understand you can sell the game yourself and make more $, but if you sell it over $20, people will just buy it for $20 at gamestop or less than at amazon).  You add in another $40/$35 to rebuy it for the ps4.  In total, for 1 title, you've just spent anywhere from $65-95, for the same 1yo game that you already owned just to be able to play it on the ps4.  pricing will vary, but in the end, you pay more for the same experience.  $50 for the ps4 remastered aint bad for the ones that never bought/played the game, but $50 more for current ps3 owners who might want upgraded graphics and want to play on the ps4.. on a 1 yo game, that would just suck ass.

As for your last comment.. don't know what the ps4's game resale value would be.. but definitely alot better than what the ps3 version will get back, especially moreso because there wouldn't be as much incentive to pick up the ps3 version.  everything loses value over time, but to wait until the game shows up in the bargin bin, especially if you already have the game, albeit on a different system?  might as well not even get it.. previous gen owners will just move onto the newer/not yet owned games on the new system.

one last thing.. i'll use FFX as an example.  I already have the PS2 version, but I won't be buying the PS3 HD version, ever.  Even if it's in the bargin bin now, I still won't buy it when I can have relive the same experience (less HD jazz, of course) just popping the ps2 game into my ps3.  now i understand the ps4 isn't ps3 bc, but that's irrelevant to the topic.  point is.. why am i going to rebuy the same game, albiet an HD version, if I already have the game?  i don't need 2 differnt versions of the same game that basically has the the same content.

The problem here is that you will get people geting a 2nd hand copy of the last of us to try and cash in on getting the PS4 version for cheap. I dont believe many people had anything to say about rebuying tomb raider.  That never had an upgrade feature uness i am mistaken? Sony is a business after all not a charity.

When games that were on the mastersystem and nes were geting made for the megadrive and snes people never asked for an upgrade feature. They just went out and brought the better version for their shiny new console.

Thats what happens when you purchase end of gen games. People oly expect and upgrade fee because of when COD and all those games come out. That was for a few weeks though which you can understand. Sony is not forcing people to repurchase the game.

To be honest then I dont think these upgrades to older games are for you. I brought the GOW collection, Jak collection, FF HD, MGS collection and I will probably be getting Kingdon hearts when i can be bothered. I owned all of these games on the PS2. Heck i'm upset that we have not had the chance to get HD collections of PS1 games. Those are the games along with the PS2 that need it most. PS3 games not so much. They look good enough on a HD screen.

Its a easy million, which is odd since its only a year old. But a easy million nonetheless.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

eh.. it's really whatever at this point until something is said from ND or Sony.  As for the game announcement, it was pretty much announced 2 months right after they announced the left behind DLC.  How many remasters pop up within 1 year of the game release?  that's why i think this game was in that unique situation..

anyways... as for the upgrades to older games comment.. those are a different situation though.  I've got the GOW and MGS collection also, even though I also have the games for the ps2.. and I agree that these games do look good in HD.  The problem is, these remastered/HD collections are just that.. remastered/HD collections of a game series last gen.. not something that was just released last year, last gen or not... basically a transition year.  I don't know.. it just doesn't make sense on that end.  Remastered and HD collections/single ports, a few years from now seems about right.. just 1 year after though.. oh well.
