Ok well I had always known that the original Team Fortress was made for Quake World back ages ago but I ahd never taken the time to try it out. I've had Quake World and played that online a lot but only just with regular Quake Deathmatch style stuff. The other night however while browsing the XFire server lists I came across a Quake World Team Fortress server so I decided to give it a try.
I played the game for about an hour on a 32 player server (yes people still play the old PC games) and it was awesome. And the best part about it is its basically free, just have to get the files. There might be some reason why you'd have to pay but I'm pretty sure its absolutely free, I haven't bought anything relating to the original Quake since 1996 though so I don't know.
The classes were all the same as the classes in Team Fortress 2 and it was all around a lot of fun. I would suggest any Team Fortress fan getting it and trying it out or if you've been thinking about getting Team Fortress giving it a try. Its made by the same people that made the other Team Fortress games only.
I've only joined games so far using the xfire server browser but I am sure you can join a server online some other way. It just was a lot of fun and since its pretty much free if not you might have to get the original Quake but that is really cheap now.
I thought some of the people here might like to give it a try, maybe some of us can get together and play a game sometime. I don't know why but I've always enjoyed going back and playing older versions of some games.
You'll find all the files you need here.
