Forums - Gaming - Are PlayStation multiplats being gimped for Xbone's sake?

wasnt the uncharted trailer CG ? do you think the gameplay will be like thatXD

It wasn't CG it was in engine, run from a PS4. While the gameplay might not be like that it will be close at least and I wouldn't put it past Naughty Dog. The cut scenes at least will definitely be like that.

Yeah, I think developers are doing fine for the PS4 (for the most part)

1: ND is amazing
2: ND only has one platform to deal with
3: ND is AMAZING....

Ugh, the argument moves to a new generation...

No, multiplats arent being gimped because of the xbox. Games that are next gen only look incredible, its the cross generation games that dont look that great... And it is because they are cross generation games!

I think that Sony gives more access to the hardware to their first parties. It helps differentiate them from third parties and guarantees that Sony made exclusives look better than other offerings, drawing more people to the platform. I also think the other 2 brands do so as well.

My question to you is do you thing that PC multiplats are being gimped for PS4's sake. Sony probably has a clause that says the Microsoft PC platform games can only look a little better than the PS4 version.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Spot on. Arkham Knight is the perfect example of this. Looks stunning and thats because its not cross gen, unbelievably it can look that good while being developed for the X1

Also, that article is further proof insiderp is crap. They dont even know what the freaking parity clause is!

Maybe it's because other developers aren't Naughty Dog?
It's not easy optimizing a game and using all available tricks to squeeze out the last bit of performance. Most studios aren't able to do so.

The fact that most multiplats look and run better on PS4 should actually answer your question that nobody is gimping anything.

Complete parity will make the playstation fans angry and will lead to boycotts.

A huge graphics gap will make Xbone owners angry and will lead t oboycotts.

The only way to win is to make the game with a marginal graphics edge on the PS4. Microsoft and its fans must leave the gaming industry for the benefit of all.

No to both since we already hat that.

The gap is about 50% between X1 and PS4. That sounds much but 720p to 1080p would be a 100% increase as would be 30 to 60 fps. So you won't ever see giant gaps. If there is parity that means both games are at peak 1080p60. If both are 1080p30 then PS4 will likely have the more stable framerate but it was not powerful enough to reach 60.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Are you trying to say that Naughty Dogs aren't that good, every devs should be able to achieve what they achieve? You have to give more credits to devs and less to hardware. If a dev is dedicated to a single hardware and has tremendous help from said hardware maker both technicaly and financialy, usualy they will show better results. Also, there is only one Corrine Yu...

That said, I didn't see anyone playing this game with these visuals. When we do then I'll believe it was gameplay. History teaches us not to believe anything devs consider what is gameplay graphics until we see them playing it. I still believe some tricks we saw during that tech demo are achievable this gen from both consoles.

You are comparing cutscene and/or CG with actual in game gameplay. Cutscene or CG no real difference the console is being dedicated to creating a movie like experience rather then being interactive. Not to mention you are comparing a late 2015 title with whats releasing now. Certainly the Uncharted clip is basically something that was given high priority to look gorgeous for E3 over anything else they are doing.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

There's a clear difference in difficulty in solving 2 + 2 and proving that the product topology X x X - {(a, a) | a in X} is a Hausdorff space.

Coding for the PS4 is like the former while coding for the PS3 is like the latter. Any dev should be able to do what ND is doing with the PS4.
