Less gameplay at a game conference? Get out.

Not necessarily less gameplay just shorter showcases, so we could have shorter conferences that are more to the point and not filled with fluff.

Oh. I'm down with that.

One of my favorite E3 moments was when they were playing 4 player NSMB and that chick died in like 2.1 seconds. Classic!! Pre-recorded video doesn't have great moments like that.

Reason #42 why Nintendo's approach is better. Its actual real content that is not fake staged. Get to the damn point and show the content.

Having seen the Xbox and EA conferences and now watching the Ubisoft conference, and my experiences from previous years, i have really begun to find these lengthy gameplay demonstrations on stage to be quite annoying.

I find them to be uninteresting and just a time waster, also it does not help that most of them are pre-recorded videos of gameplay with a guy just standing on the stage with a controller pretending to play.

what do you guys think about these type of gameplay demonstrations?

I personally would want them to be shorter because a lot of I find quite boring after more than 2-3 minutes.

What you should be asking is "Why is the gameplay so freaking boring?" because that's a more fun and on-point discussion for these kinds of complaints.

I love gameplay. It is actually what I'm looking for instead of CGI trailers...

No. Gameplay is gmeplay. And its not just to show you how the game plays and its various gameplay mechanics its to show you how it looks too. I would take gameplay presentations anyday over CGI.

What you are asking for is the equivalent of a movie/game trailer that takes snippets of some of the best bits and tries to wow you with them. But the core difference is that games as a medium are "played". A gameplay presentation is the most accurate and right way to show people what to expect.

Why in Gods name would you rather see smoke and mirrors and less actual game play content?
