Forums - Gaming - 51 DRIVECLUB details that might just blow your mind

Many people in this thread seem to be lumping in the majority of the details in the OP under "graphics" which imo is wrong.

I'll say this, developers can create a very realistic weather system that has absolutely no impact on the graphics but a huge impact on the gameplay. Not saying this is the case with Driveclub but i feel like some people are not understanding this.

Bolded: was that necessary?

As for the rest, I'm not attacking this game. I love attention to details as much as anyone. But I put my money on playing a game and if it's different from other racing games. I understand that to some, graphics alone are enough to spend time but to others it is not. I may have missed other recent articles where they talk more about sounds, handling, number of tracks and all. I like racing games but not to a point where small details will be enough for a purchase, there are so many racing games out there I wanna know what this one has gameplay wise the others don't... will go look for more news.

Hmmm yeah sorry about bolded. When i typed it i was thinking it might be taken the wrong way. However the point im trying to make there is that "what's important" is fully dependant on the content creators and not on you. Didnt mean to offend...

I still think you have the wrong idea here..."graphics alone are enough to spend time but to others it is not" again Evolution is not focusing solely on graphics. Unless you have a different understanding to what graphics is. This is what my entire previous post was about. Their focus seems to be on simulation. Recreating certain aspects of real life in the game. Dynamic weather systems etc.

And like i said in my above post, you wont find too much detail on the handling...this is an arcade racer...Theres been quite a lot of detail around the audio and the tracks/locations though.

In fact if they really wanted to focus solely on graphics, then i would have cut out all simulation aspects of the game completely and put those recources to better use.

Yeah I get what you mean but E3 is around the corner and I believe a lot of my questions will be answered there...

What I'm hoping the most is what I'm gonna do in this game besides pushing on the gas pedal and going around. Is there a nitro boost, can I crash, would I get rewards when I make others crash, can I paint/tune my car, is there a story mode, are all the tracks on tarmac, are there things on the roads, are there multiple pathways, how the social part of the game will influence players etc...

edit: nevermind... was watching a gameplay vid and got answered to many questions... E3 will tell it all

There is 50 cars, and it took 7 months to make one.  so they started making this game about 7 years ago?

I'm assuming you're joking?

If not, they can make more than one car at once.

  1. Each car takes approximately seven months to create - from initial licensing, reference collation, CAD data processing, asset production, physics modelling, through to the final car in-game.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it sounds like it takes them 7 months to create a car one by one, or all 50 at once? Its not clear so I'm asking.

edit: I did some digging on my own, and I learned it took them 9 years to make Driveclub.

LOL. They haven't been actually working on Driveclub for 9 years! That time includes them thinking about the idea of Driveclub while they were making Motorstorm. They work on more than one car at a time. You honestly did believe that they take 7 months to build one car and then after they've built that one car they start building another?!

They've actually been working on the game for about three years.

Have to admit, that first one impressed me so much that this will be the first racing game I'll pick up in years. Of course I have ps+ so the price point is there anyway, but I honestly may have never downloaded before reading some of the stuff here.

All of this is bullshit.

What's important is how the OVERALL immersion works during the game.

As far as the demos go, Forza 5 still looks better than Driveclub.

Playing boring forest track, with tarnished green trees full of flat or barely tessellated leaves is not interesting.

You could have had a pointed, but then you compared it to the heavily downgraded Forza 5 and your bias became apparent. This game is trying to do stuff that hasn't been done yet, not everything about it, but a good portion of the stuff they mention sounds very intriguing.

I am calm, but you read my comment wrong. I didn't mean there is none on consoles period, i even spesified what i meant to say on PS4, X1 and WiiU. That being said, let's not dwell on it. We're hear to discuss the topic itself or lurk and read the ideas of others.

Still seems wrong to me. Forza on x1 is 60 fps is it not. that is with in your specifications.
