FULL ARTICLE: (http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06/03/sony-discontinuing-psp?abthid=538df75b37157ff50e000024)

Anyway, the PSP has been discontinued in Japan almost 10 years after its initial release. My prediction is the Wii will overtake the PSP weekly and eventually outsell it for the whole year. Here are the most recent sales for both.

671 5,621 1,357 10,772
3,652 4,142 108 8,763

Anyway, Wii seems to be doing much better in N. America, not that far behind in Europe, but is being outsold in Japan. If the discontinuation brings the sales of PSP down in Japan, Wii could overtake it weekly again like last year. Well you guys tell me what you think.

PSP was discontinued in North America at the start of the year.

Hasn't Wii also been pretty much discontinued globally now?

yes

We'll finally know the PSV numbers from Sony reports.

I enjoy my PSP even now. It is not going away because it's not being sold new. I plan to use mine for years and new PS1 classics come out to play on it still.

It made a good run.

But man, why are people even buying those systems, even if practically no one is?

Wii U is backwards compatible.
Smartphones have emulators.

They are cheaper?  The Wii Mini should of had wifi though to at least connect to the Wii Shop Channel, Netflix, Hulu and Youtube.

About time Sony, sometimes you need to just let the previous console die. Devs can still develop for it, but the games will be digital and on Vita. If people want to purchase a PSP they won't be able to so they'll be required to purchase a Vita.

So.... Vita is saved?

There ends the best gaming system ever created.

Don't jinx it. Sony combining everything into the Playstation Family isn't entirely out of the question...

Good bye psp it was great while it lasted.
