I agree that the surface pro isn't an ideal gaming device. But, the 14 inch laptop isn't either. The 14 inch laptop doesn't have a touch screen and removable keyboard. It also weighs twice as much. What you compare the surface pro to is just the laptop capabilities. If I wanted a gaming laptop it would have at least a 17 inch screen. I have a Vaio 17 laptop that now collects dust that I used to game on, but that's another kind of experience. When I want to game more intensely, I hook my surface to a screen and keyboard/mouse. point is, unless you buy a $2k+ laptop, you are compromising something.

Um, a 14 in. laptop is fine for gaming, especially when you are sitting right next to it. There is also a 15.6 in. version available for even better specs and the same price. You told me to show you a small gaming laptop, and I did.
Also, isn't that what the point is? The Surface 3 is meant to be a laptop replacer, and it's not. Why would you want a removeable keyboard or a touchscreen on a laptop? You only use those for Windows Apps, which are damn near useless for the audience that the Surface 3 is targeting (power laptop users).
And there will always be something better for a higher price. The laptop I showed you can play almost all modern games at at least medium, and it will easily play old games. The integrated graphics in a Surface 3 can't handle most intensive games after 2011.
The Surface 3 is also useless as a multimedia device compared to traditional laptops unless you purchase one of the obscenely expensive ones, as the affordable ones have little storage space. There is little room for things like movies, music, pictures, etc.
The Surface 3 may be pretty, but it is redundant when compared to laptops in the same price range. You can purchase a laptop that does everything the Surface 3 can but better, and get a cheap Android tablet on the side if you really can't live without a tablet.
