Microsoft
right now xbox division has an image problem. Their product is seen as underpowered and overpriced (even at 400$) and is losing marketshare weekly. Xb is seen as rocky, their word unreliable, and their vision flawed.
1 Games:
hammer on the games issue. I would show as many games as possible, even if half of them were vaporware. Gears would be my main event, but it's also important that gamers understand that xb1 is at least equal or better than ps4. More games, more exclusives. Obviously need to showcase all their big franchises, and add a couple here and there.
2 Capability:
I would show games that graphically can't be matched, similarly to ryze. Ms need to show somehow that power doesnt matter. They can match or exceed ps4 capability. I would show bullshots and claim it was the cloud improving graphics. I would try to convince gamers that the future is already here, and the secret sauce is real. I might even go so far as to show the bad screenshots from the competition and show great shots from my own games and say "this is what the competition looks like, and this is what our games look like"
3 Kinect:
Kinect bonus nonsense needs to go. The whole "and using kinect, you can ______" needs to go. Everyone hates those gimmicks and it makes kinect look like an afterthought. Kinect needs games that are good and creatively uses the technology as a core element.
4 xbox360:
As little as possible focus on 360. Convince 360 owners to upgrade. Too many consumers look at 360 and see it as a rival to xb1, as opposed to ps4. They have the same functions, 360 costs substantially less (even with kinect), and the graphical improvements don't tell consumers much because there are great looking games on the 360. Like yusef medhi said (though he spun it a different way), the reason why xb1 sales are low is because literally more people like 360 than xb1. That needs to change.
Megaton: a Metal Gear Solid exclusive using kinect that highlights the tech the way mgs1 did for ps1....or some other traditional playstation game goes exclusive.
Playstation:
Ps is in a very good spot. They honestly dont have to do much.
1 Domination: Going forward though, they need to portray themselves as a behemoth. "We have every dev, every game. We are the lead dev platform. Our ps platform gives you all the pc indies, all the console games, and our massive first party dev power". Sony needs to look like an avalanche. Use statistics to show how much ps4 is ahead, and how this is snowballing. Consumers should be convinced that before long, all your friends will have a ps4. This e3 is all about marketshare and growth.
2 Games: We all know theyre a little lacking in the games dept, and we all know they have delays, but we have to be convinced that games are coming, and quickly. Expectations also need to be met. This isn't ps3 anymore when you can show anything and not deliver. A lot of times, gamers think, "I only buy this console brand for this one game. Show all those franchise games, no matter where they are in development. Don't focus too much on those games we saw last year. Lastly, show everything gamers are not expecting. SHOW JRPGS Sony needs to show that they are thr kings of variety. Consumers need to know that any game they could ever want is on ps4. This includes vita games, psp games, indies, ps2, ps3, ps1.
3 Features:
PSNow should be offered for free for a year for all ps4 owners who subscribe to ps+ before august 31. Ps+ is fine where it is.
4: Peripherals:
Morpheus cannot have too much focus, but we need to see how the peripheral works with the biggest games. This is a tech that is very difficult to show, as we've seen with the 3ds announcement. Instead, play some user feedback videos. Funny ones. There's one of a guy using a rollercoaster app, and a friend buckles his knees and he freaks out. Stuff like that makes this shit go viral. No talking about how it's the future or "experiences". Megaton of the century: ff7 remake
Nintendo
Nintendo also isnt in that bad a position. Execs must be like "shareholders are soooo impatient". Honestly, theyre first party lineup for wiiu is very provocative. New smash, new zelda, bayonetta, etc.
1 Software:
They just need to keep introducing this quality software, especially the fan franchises. Zelda, mario, metroid, starfox...but they also need to talk about that software that gets the casuals wet. Let's see a Minecraft ripoff. We need something that shows off how awesome that gamepad is.
2 Playing ketchup:
Continue to upgrade the store. Continue adding more games to it. Create new initiatives that connect the community. Nintendo is so good at this that there's really nothing I can imagine better than they can.
3 Play it safe:
Show off a ton of unannounced games as usual and just keep doing what theyre doing. Honestly nintendo directs are 100x better than e3 presentations. Theres no hype no expectations and just lots of surprises. As long as they hold their course theyll be fine.
4 New hardware:
This is the only prediction of the thread, but I expect them to show or at least hint at a new handheld platform that can play 3ds games, and is compatible with the wiiu as a tablet controller. I believe Sony has a folding tablet, so it wouldn't be too hard to make something like this. I think 2ds is the interim toward a non 3d 3ds successor. This would allow Nintendo to have non controller wiiU's, dramatically bringing costs down, introduce a new revenue stream, and solve the problem many people have with replacing those broken controllers. As a bonus, it would be portable (as opposed to the controller), slimmer, and increase 3ds and ds game sales.
