I'm betting on WD making the difference. If it has beaten the all time 24h sales record for Ubisoft (that gets some pretty good AC numbers), it looks like the game will be on beast mode.

as much as i love mario kart i dont think it will do much but give a short lived bump in sales intially and then fall back around vita sales nintendo fanboys love to bash.  the irony

I really don't think MK8 will boost the Wii U's sales all that much. Like, if it's a more casual game, why would it increase sales so dramatically all of a sudden? And if it's a more core game, wouldn't that mean most people interested in this game would have already purchased their Wii U?

It will certainly boost sales, but I think MK8 is one of those games that you won't see the immediate sales gains but rather a long period of increased Wii U numbers.

Also, WD will certainly increase PS4/XBO sales.
