Liverpool thoroughly deserved that.

Hopefully another cheating Spanish team gets slapped in the final. Bring the trophy home, Liverpool.

Why is Sevilla a cheater? XD. I don't like them personally, and I'm a Spanish team supporter.

If Liverpool win the cup what does it mean for man city and arsenal? Does 4th place definitely not qualify for the champions league or does the 4th placed qualifiers go into the champions league qualifying rounds?

As far as I knew, winning the Europa got you a place in the Champions league outside of your leagues places.

I know they have weird rules around the whole winning the Champions League thing and not qualifying in your country, Chelsea and Liverpool both did that so go put into the first qualifying round I think (Prem 4th place goes into 3rd qual). It's like the Premier League like to mess up EUFA's perfect little system by being a dynamic exciting league or something.

Hmm, pie.

Like Liverpool Sevilla is outside of places that grant access to europen competitions too. It's also the 2nd worst away team in la liga so far with 9/54 points. In fact they haven't won a single away game.

I just had a look, ouch is a word. Great home record and 2nd worse away record based on points earned, the worst is the bottom club. The final of Europa is defintely an away game. :P

They're not only in a Europa League place but guaranteed to finish in a Europa League place as well...

Yes, because they're cup finalists and Barcelona (the other finalist) isn't going to play Europa League next year.

They both got put straight in to the group stage still. In Liverpool's case is was the 4th placed team (IIRC Everton) that got put in to the first qualifying round. That's when UEFA originally brought in the rule preventing 5 teams in the Champions League so in Chelsea's the 4th placed team (IIRC Tottehanm) didn't qualify for the Champions League at all. The fourth placed team would usually go in to the playoff round which is actually the 4th round of qualifying rather than the 3rd.

When they changed the Europa League to give the winners a Champions League place they changed the rules so that now 5 teams from the same country can qualify for the Champions League again. Winning either qualifies a team directly to the group stage regardless of league position and only affects the league position qualifiers if teams from the same league outside the top 4 win both European competitions (and even then only in the top 3 leagues which provide 4 Champions League qualifying places in the first place).

And yeah, the premier league does like to mess with UEFA's system, it's even the reason for the some of these rules

I recall Liverpool won the competition but were made to qualify from the very beginning of the qualifiers that year Everton beat them to 4th, we had 5 PL teams that year in the comp, 2 seasons later a rule was added to prevent 5 teams. Watch them change the rules again when 5 PL teams are competiting and UEFA are secretly livid over it, ironic considering at the start of the season the was the risk of losing the 4th spot.

huh, right you are. Well the rules now mean a team in their position would go straight to the group stage anyway.

And hey, if UEFA didn't want 5 English teams in the Champions League then they shouldn't have changed the rules again to allow 5 teams

Besides, it could be Sevilla that win still and then it would be 5 Spanish teams instead.

Remember when the EPL was crushing europe not so long ago and the was a period where it was 3 EPL teams in the semis for something like 3 years runningand a EPL team in the finals for a long period, I remember Blatter and UEFA getting pissed off at it and complaining that action maybe taken to stop such situations from consistently happening. It was such a hilarious display of salt especially when they didn't moan about the Italians teams dominating before, I remember pundits asking what do they want the EPL teams to do play with one leg behind their backs.

The rant from Spur's manager... ROFL you got beaten to the title mate accept it.

Wait what I didn't realize if City drop points in the remaining two match United will leap into 4th if they win both of theirs. The Arsenal game is now do or die and Swansea have recently started going on a tear, West Ham are their main stumbling block for United in the last two games.
