As im one of the biggest, if not the biggest Rare supporter on this forum ill give you my input.

I wanted to buy KSR specifically for this reason. I knew if it would sell poorly it could hurt rare, but in the end i decided not to buy it so it would show Rare to stop focusing on Kinect. The focused on Kinect primarily because KS1 and 2 sold so well, you cant really blame them. NOw theyre seeing times are changing and they need to go back to the core.

What i do get annoyed by is people sayign their talentless which isnt true. KS actually is a good game for what it is, just not what core gamers want. Viva Pinatas and Kameo were great last gen and then you have Banjo Nuts and Bolts which id compare to an expaning game similar to how mario expands yearly. Perfect Dark Zero was also good. My point is, they have talent and now that they see that gamers want core games they will get back on track on making those games people love

From the sounds of things from both Rare and MSFT they will be re-focusing on the core which is a good thing. No worries

They want to focus on core so they fired the only developers who worked on the games that made rare famous?

Believe it or not but developers are a team, not one person.

A team of people who are now entirely only people who have worked on the kinect games?

Sometimes I think we have too much info available. Turn over happens to every business. No big usually. Naughty dog isn't dead nor is rare.

Nah, plenty of those people has worked on Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo Nuts and Bolts, Kameo, and others.   Even the new Killer Instinct had Rare members working on it, though the community give them little credit for it since it consisted of about 10 rare members from my undertanding. DOnt act as if two known names consisted of the whole team working there for years

WHile its sad to see them go, i do believe you are exaggerating a bit.

I'm sure there are some people who worked on other stuff, I was just making a point..but how many are we talking..and in what capacity? Just programmers? Any leads? Coordinators? Script writers?

From what I've seen, Rare hasn't done much outside of chris and tim stamper...that's a testament to how important one or two people are.

THere is plenty of people who has.  Rare consists of 130+ people and 50+ freelancers.

But yes Stamper was a genius.  Ive always said it but Rare did a great job up until Kinect Sports.  THough it was a good game, just not what the core wants.  Id consider both Kameo and Viva Pinatas as some of Rare best work including the 90s.  And wow, Killer Instinct, prob the best online fighter ive played.  WHile a lot of the credit goes to DOuble Helix, Rare also worked on the game and had a big part in it.

Anyways to get back on topic, Rare has been hinting at going back to the core for about a year now.

Here's to them hiring skillful people for non-kinect games.

I agree that viva and kameo are some of their best works. Those were both incredible games very reminiscent of their earlier work, but that was almost 10 years ago. How many of those people left do you think there are? Plus, u don't have to get back "on topic"...this is on topic.
