Not that what you said had anything to do with my post you quoted, but surely no one actually believes these Directs are substitutes for traditional advertising methods, especially since Nintendo still uses said advertising methods. Directs are simply a means of announcing their stuff.

Well my actual point was that Nintendo fans don't automatically buy everything Nintendo makes just because Nintendo makes it, so advertising to them is still important, not to imply that Nintendo fans are the only ones who watch directs or anything.

but Ninty fans DO know about them, that was my point. And who are watching Directs if NOT Ninty fans. Im not saying every fan does it but i would bet at the majority of watchers were already Ninty fans.

I find it hard to believe that you think all it takes for someone to justify buying a game is only to know that it exist.

Not an assumption, and informed opinion. I don't own an Xbox or consider myself a fan of Microsoft's, so I wouldn't watch an "Xbox Direct." A huge majority of the viewers of Nintendo Direct are people who have medium to high interest in the product ie fan. If they were a nominal fan they wouldn't give 30 minutes plus of their time to watch.
