lately I've still been playing godfather on the Wii along with Super Paper Mario. Both great games, I also think the Wii version is the best for the Godfather. I also picked up Warioware, SSX Blur, and a few old Cube games to play on my Wii this year. All great.

How would you rate Godfather, I havent played it, it looks inticing It got mixed review, I mean I personally liked Red Steel and It got horrible reviews.

I liked Red Steel too, it wasn't amazing, I kind of understood where the critics were on that but i did like the controls. Now how would I rate Godfather? It's my second favorite game on the Wii next to Zelda. I think it's a blast to play I love it. The reason it got mixed reviews is because it's being compared story-wise to what many would call the best movie ever made, and game wise to what many feel is the best game ever made(not me) that being GTA. And many are biased against EA to begin with so it had three strikes against it before it was even played. One review actually said the games story didn't live up to the film. Really? A video game that didn't live up to the standards of what many call the best movie ever made? I don't think any game lives up to Godfather story wise, so that's a stupid thing to say.

Here are my reasons for loving it:

  1. best voice acting in a game ever.
  2. Movie based quests. I normally hate games that let you act out movie scenes, but godfather is a movie about the big shots here is a game about the little shots. You get to do all the cool stuff that was only talked about in the movie. so it feels more like a neat behind the scenes type of thing.
  3. It is the best demonstration of Wii controls for complex gaming. the analog stick and d-pad work nice for movement and camera control, the Wii-mote works perfect for aiming, with auto-aim that lets you steer toward a particular part of the body, or Free aim is great also. And also the motion based bat swinging never gets old. The controls are dead on and tons of fun. ah smashing up a guys store with a bat...
  4. It's not just a huge sand box world. but there is in my opinion tons of cool things that are not offered in any other sand box game. Extorting stores and taking over rackets supplies tons of fun interactions within the city and give more depth to the enviornment allowing there to be plenty of indoor scenes. You can hire guys to come with you they can be paid different rates for better AI, and the ai is actually good, you can even drive to the other mobs compound and start a full scale war with them. You can bribe cops who will not only look the other way but help you in a shoot out. Any banks around you can walk in take out security and blow off the safe doors and steal a huge loot. Then you have deal with dozens of cops, but it's insanely fun. with rackets taken over you make money every month, so there is some strategy involved with making money buying new weapons and safehouses throughout the city(Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Jersey). There is also a cool rpg style point system that let you upgrade you skills and get new moves.

If you at all like shooters or sand-box style games this one is awesome. You should at least rent it and give it a spin. The only negative thing about it at all in my opinion is the city looks a little drab, kind of dark and lacks color. But that's how things looked back then so it really don't bother me. Plus some complained about how many of the indoor environments were repeats of others. Since there is so many this hardly bothered me at all I'd rather have repeats that add tons of replay value then none of these extras, there is also a slew of extra side quest type stuff too but I'll stop there.
