Forums - Gaming - 4K Gaming...What do you guys think about it?

Most current console games on PC in 4k res remind me of Dreamcast games , they look flat as fook. Anyyone else notice this? IDC really haha.

4K is a superior resolution! Is this any news to you ?
The difference that you get in a solid gameplay with a 4K resolution it's worth your money ? I don't think that, but if you have a good disposable income, go for it. It's not like someone will care what others experience, it's if you're enjoying your experience ~

In 10 years will probably be the norm of the day for gaming, or not. Nobody knows ~

Did I ever say rush out and buy it? Why are you people here so defensive? Un pucker the butts sheesh. Have a conversation.

I wasn't being defensive. I was just telling you one opinion. That happens to be the general opinion. Most of the gamers can't afford spending alot of money in a piece of tech, just for a ''slighty'' better experience. When we're be able to get 4K with a $600 price point, that's when this will be generalized !

  -sigh

4K is cool, just not feasible with today's hardware. Television streaming is certainly possible, as is movie playback, but today you can barely do 4K on some games with a $700 graphics card, and even then it's not optimal. I'm sure 3-4 years down the line the hardware will catch up, but it'll be restricted to high-end PC gamers until the next wave of consoles come out.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

Not really interested until price drops. I'll give it a couple of years.

I'm using a 4K monitor right now, the difference between those youtube videos at "original" resolution, and ACTUAL, locally running games in 4K, is night and day.

...

What difference would using a 85" 4K tv from a few meters away, or a 32" monitor from a few feet make?, you're still perceiving the same pixel density at the same cluster size.

Which brand is your(s) monitor(s)? Is it Dell or the Asus one? Or it's a pro monitor? And how is it for gaming?

I'm interested in Dell's 24" 4K monitor since I saw this pic

That's Sleeping Dogs @1080p on that screen. It looks tiny!

The pixel density makes AA almost unnecessary.

Unfortunately, price (the UP2414Q is around 1000 €) and the necessary GPU grunt make gaming at that res only a dream. For now.

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I think its about 10 years away for me when the price is more reasonable and more things support it.

I agree with LiquorandGunFun.
Until its affordable and it gets more support, I dont care about it. It must look stunning though.

4K is the true "game changer" rather than VR as some would desperately want you to believe. Judging by Moore's law, 4K television should be in the price range of a typical HDTV now in about 3-4 years time. Perfect timing for a new generation of consoles to take advantage of 4K.

The challenge is of course developing graphics assets to that scope without significantly increasing costs.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I think it's far better to actually "master" 1080p at 60fps than to push 4k. Very few games do 1080 and 60fps right now, so why bother with 4k? Hell, devs are even struggling with 1080 and 30 fps! And make no mistake, 60fps is far more important to reach than 4k resolution; frames per second actually matters when you game (well, in certain games at least), while 4k only makes things look prettier.

And another reason for not pushing 4k is the dev costs. Last gen saw a huge rise in dev costs when the industry went HD. Trying to push 4k would only demand more resources, cost more to develop games, the minimum sales of a game to turn a profit would increase and all of this would lead to a further stagnation of creativity for the whole AAA industry and more sequels.

So no. 4k can go fuck itself for another 5-15 years! After 5 years... we can have this discussion again and see what's happened to the industry.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
