| biglittlesps said: hello everyone, I've been recently thinking about AAA games future and found that its not looking good. My reasons why its looking bad: 1. Sales Most of the AAA games are not selling well for studio to sustain the the long development cycle/budget and make another AAA which is huge risk for developers now game except very few games. 2. Huge indie push Every talented group of game deveopers are leaving the big studios and starting new studio themselves which is risk free way to earn money very quickly across huge install base throught digital titles in Mobiles and PC. 3. Reviews Consumers are caring about reviews and compareisons of the graphics/hardware more now than ever. 4. PC Better graphics and cheap price of the games through steam and others in PC are changing the mentality of the consumers to spend less on Consoles because of the prices of the consoles games. 5. Mobiles Mobiles getting more attention every year from many casual gamers with the F2P and indie developers.
Consoles(its hardware power) are there for providing AAA experiences by pushing the hardware/technology, but after looking at the current trend we may not need another console in future at all because AAA studios/developers are started to decrease and Indies are increasing rapidly. Every mobile deveice and laptop is capable of supporting every inide game. So, if this continues then after this generation we may not see new console and single player AAA experience in future other than huge number of indie games like Andriod which is quantity more but quality less. What do you think? Are you worried about AAA games or Happy about Indies as future? |
You make absolutely no sense. There are AAA games on Steam, they are the ones that push graphics and why people invest in a big gaming rig. No one buys a new graphics card to play Fez or Spelunky in super high resolution. Those AAA games are not cheap when launched, they are not on sale, they cost as much as what a standard pc game cost for years. People waiting on sales becuz thats the thing to do with steam and cutting in the revenue of the developers is toxic. Your supposed advantage of the pc is actually bad for the industry.
did you even think this through when submitting this thread?
