I'm still eager to play the game. I think Artoon (now Arzest) did a great job with Yoshi's Island DS.
I didn't expect that. I thought it will be the first great 3DS game this year but I wasn't so much interested in it. So -> no problem^^
I don't hate Microsoft, I don't hate PC,
I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?
I'm a gamer with one of the greatest hobbies and I want to share this greatness with everyone.
Please give us your definition of flop, because you don't seem to fully understand what flop actually means.
Let's say we are going by a Rotten Tomatoes grading rubric; Yoshi's New Island would still be considered "Fresh" in this case. This game would be on the level of acceptable/okay. Tell me how that's a flop.
Every innovative games get hate on by metacritic reviewers look at wii sport and Knack

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

This. It seems that journalists think a 7-7.9 aren't very good but playable and anything 6.9 is a bad game. Here are just a few games that made 69 or less and are good games imo. Lords of Shadow 2, Sports Champions 2, White Knight Chronicles 2, Prinny 2, Driver Parallel Lines, most of the Armored Core series, Forever Kingdom, etc. There are also a lot of really good games that score in the low 70s and then a lot of games that I think are worse that score in the 80s and 90s.

This. I bought the game, it is no where NEAR as bad as its been reviewed. This is game is 5x better than Yoshi DS, which happens to have a meta score of 81.
The screenshots do no justice to the actualy fluidity of live play, especially with the 3d on. the levels are better, the music compliments the visuals, unlike Yoshi DS, which had horrible music like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqMAhVltrKo ... so horrid
this game should at LEAST be a 75/100

VIDEO GAME MUSIC MASHUPS
I just downloaded this game and I gotta say it's merely a simpler version of the Super Nintendo game. It's just the bare bones and Skeleton without any meat on it, let alone any new meat.
The newest "meat" that there could be would the slightly differentiated art style which is actually prettier but doesn't feel like it because there's less of it (again it's a simplified version of the original). The same applies to the music. They put a weirder more comical twist on it, but in such a simplistic way.
I've always been an avid defender of Nintendo because I feel like they are more concerned about making a timeless experience for a more universal audience, but this game is representative of their "new" software output like nsmbu where they've got the wrong impression that people want to go completely back to the way things were, entirely. Yes, people want to go back to that time, but only so much. Nintendo is taking their audience's intuition to go back to basics too literally and this is the result.
This game just doesn't feel special.
