Thats exactly the reason why they are doing it.


Convince as many people as possible to trade in the PS4s (giving them 99% of the orignal price helps ALOT) and then resell the PS4s for 500 each.

I don't think they'd sell a PS4 by itself for $500. They'd probably copy their Infamous "bundle" in which to get a PS4 you would have to get a second controller and PS+ with it for $550 or something. You wouldn't be able to get one by itself since they understand the demand for it is so high.
