Forums - Sony - PS3 going blue?

MentalAlliance said:
What!? I hope not! Not that it's crazy important, but my PS3 collection looks really nice being all one style. Leave PS4's as PS4's, Vita's as Vita's, and PS3's as PS3's. Also, and I doubt it'll be that big a problem because of the actual box colour, but couldn't it also cause some confusion for consumers trying to buy, say a PS4 version of a game and instead they buy a PS3 version and because PS4 isn't backwards compatible they have to return and whatnot.

Use that as an excuse to return an open copy of a game.  I thought this was PS4 because of the blue.

I wish the PS4 game cases were smaller - like the Vita cases.

It looks sleeker and more modern.

I wish the PS4 game cases were like... PS3 cases.

Very stylish those PS3 game cases.

ugh. I dont think ill be getting any PS3 games that will be using blue but you know what? my collection is screwed anyway. I got a couple of games that still have the terrible spiderman movie font. 1 or 2 red GH cases hell even a Japanese import thats yellow.

I noticed it on Mugen Souls Z when I pre-ordered it, I almost thought I was getting a PS4 game lol.

It was fun while it lasted.

Are you for real? How would you fit bluray disc?

Are you serious?

Fold it.

It's brand product line unity, that's all.

And while I realize some of the truly OCD will lament the non-matching spine labels in their collections, SCE already did this before when they swapped the red labels for black ones. The games I keep on the shelves are organized by genre and then year. If I really wanted those labels to match, then I could just do it by year and then genre.

As for the issue of consumer confusion, without talking down to people like they're idiots, the spine and the front are clearly marked with "PS3" or "PS4" regardless of what color the bar is. If someone can't read, then they're just going to have to learn to recognize the symbols or ask a clerk.

I bumped this because they are going back to black, with consumer confusion being the main reason for the second change.
