OK, so I booted up the game today. Got to the church and took a break. The game doesn't look great, but I think it's got it where it counts. I see a lot of potential here. Surveying and raiding is a lot of fun, and the constant threat of death makes it all the more engaging.

The characters and dialogue could use a little work, though

haha the dialogue is pretty dodgy, but I think the game has what it needs. It would be even better with open world multiplayer, I think it'd take on DayZ & Rust if it did multiplayer properly

I played a little more today, and I find I like it more as I go. Understanding prestige points and resources helps the game make more sense. The one thing I don't like is that many of the missions will disappear if you wait too long, but I suppose that's just part of a game like this. But it's still frustrating, because I feel compelled to take on every mission I see. As a result, I don't find a lot of downtime to forge relationships and make improvements to the base camp.

It would be great if you could delegate missions to fellow survivors.

I'll be purchasing the dlc and giving my impressions later this week for anyone wanting to get it :)

edit:Putting up my thoughts later today

This game is turning into a huge time sink

It's really addictive. Plus I'm afraid to turn off the system for fear of losing my survivors...

Now that we're technically into our second week, what's everyone's thoughts on the game so far?

My impressions on the DLC so far is that it's the more open world mode. It's generally more of the same from the normal game, but with a little extra content. (It's also way more difficult then the normal game)

I'm about 4 hours into the DLC

I beat the game last night!

I enjoyed it overall. It was frustrating at times -- repetitive missions, lack of construction materials, losing a survivor -- but it was also rewarding. My favorite parts were the life simulation and strategy side of things. It was fun customizing each safe house and working to build a community.

In the end, I think State of Decay stands as the most realistic zombie apocalypse game I've played. Not as good as something like Left 4 Dead, but much more harrowing and demanding. It feels like playing The Walking Dead.

7.5/10 for me.

That's nice, I haven't finished it yet. I need to just sit down one time & play through it. How long do you think it is?

It depends on how many side missions you take on. I probably spent like 18 hours on it, including a marathon session on Saturday.

I realized that I wanted to do all the side missions but there aren't enough resources in the area to justify staying in one place for so long
