So people buy it for PS3 and on the same day upgrading it to PS4? |
People cited Knack being free and the upgrade program as the reason they did not buy games for the PS4. 70% of people did not buy a PS4 game and, honestly, that doesn't surprise me - I wasn't going to buy a PS4 game when I got mine because of PS+ but then the EbGames worker told me that KZ:SF was on special for $65 so I said why not.

PS3 digital rate was 5.2%
those games just bombed and nobody bought any games.

No what I meant was that specifically for Yakuza sales you can't blame the upgrade program since they were released on the same day and I doubt that people would buy the PS3 version just to upgrade it.

I think does120 to 150k. The last of the orig 350 sold (350-322=22k) + report 2nd and 3rd shipments. The real judge will be if it is sold out or not come end of this week.
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Well it was more a general suggestion. Those games might've bombed but the digital rate will be a lot higher this gen, increasing over time. I wouldn't be surprised to have a 40-50% or higher digital rate at the end of this gen. Several reasons for this:
New generation of gamers who are used to instantly get their content via the internet. The PlayGo feature will help with this a lot.
More digital only games. The Indie wave is unstoppable and due to the new architecture there will be more and more people porting their PC games to the consoles.
If PSNow succeeds it will strengthen the mentality of always available, immediate content. Like Netflix and Smartphones are doing already.
When this time comes it will be tough on VGC with people claiming the downfall of the industry and bombing games just because the physical sales are well below the average of last gen.

Well, you do get 2 games basically if you buy the PS3 version + a small fee so I think it's plausible.

Interesting. I'm really not surprised by the low digital sales forPS3 and Nintendo but I really thought at least the Vita would have a higher rate.
Still thinking this will change with the PS4 over time.
