Nah, they won't use HDDVD. If they wanted the space for some reason I see them using the HD VMD standard. It uses regular DVD tech and disc, far cheaper, but greatly increases the storage space to near HDDVD/Bluray levels.

Less expensive to manufacturer = Nintendo
More proprietary = Nintendo
Less fees = Nintendo
Won't have movie playback = Nintendo
