Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One February update is now starting to roll out

As I noted in my blog post about the December system update, we’ve changed the way these work on Xbox One to reduce the impact on our customers.

For the vast majority of Xbox One owners who use “Instant On” (the low power state that allows you to instantly power up your console by saying “Xbox On”), the console automatically checks for updates when customers turn it off. This means now that we’ve made the February update available, the next time you turn your console off it will take the update during off-peak hours in your local time. All that to say, never fear you’ll see it sometime over the weekend.

As a reminder, here are some of the features you’ll see in this update:

  • The ability to see and manage your storage space. With this update, you will find it easy to find how much space your content takes up and better manage your content. You can also control your install lineup and more easily manage your download queue. We’ve separated My Games and My Apps into separate lists, so you can easily create separate queues for both. Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load.
  • The battery power indicator is back! You can see it right on the home screen, so you can easily track how much battery life is left on your controller.
  • And, you will be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.

Thanks!

This is a pretty damn good update. Some things should have been there at launch but I'm still glad they're pushing it out.

I got mine this morning. Didn't get a chance to mess with it much, had to get to work. I did notice the battery icon on the bottom. I wonder how the battery indicator will work with more than one controller.

Anybody notice any speed difference in the UI? Seemed the same to me.

This is a good update! I like how you can view storage and manage it completely and the battery indicator is very good as well.

Being able to see what each achievement is without going into it is nice.

@pbroy, the UI seems to be a bit more responsive, fluid (stuff loads a bit quicker too) and less juttery for me.

Thing we appreciate the most. Changing volume via voice is better. Before you would say Xbox Volume Up (or down) and with our stereo it would change 1.5db. Then you would have to wait until the voice prompts went away to adjust further. Now we can repeat immediately to adjust again. Wish there was a way to adjust how much up or down it went each time, but now at least we can simply say it again immediately. Overall for me voice working much better.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Nobody commented but the crushed sharper filter was fixed... I checked myself the upscale is now more clean with less screen pop ups but the jaggies are more visible.

That's the big news in this update... the image is overall better now... DR3 and KI are examples if you guys wants to see live.

Wow, I didn't know that was changed. That little niggle was always a nuisance. Made me keep my remote control beside me to adjust volume.
