He should release a spiritual successor with less copyright infringement.

You mean the green pipes?

Considering how much unwarrented controversy is surrounding it... yes.

I'm not sure why this game is popular, though. Jetpack Joyride already did something like this, but is far better.

Out of geniune curiosity of the question of why the game is popular please define how Jetpack Joyride is better?

It's not the same experience as Flappy Bird, but as an endless runner, it has a good deal of similarities. The key difference is that Flappy Bird requires near constant tapping in order to avoid obstacles, while Jetpack Joyride is the iOS equivalent of Donkey Kong Country Returns' rocket barrel level: press and hold to gain height, let go to descend.

In a more objective sense, Jetpack Joyride is better because it has far more features and variety within its simple concept. Subjectively, I much prefer Jetpack Joyride's control scheme and more forgiving design. It also has a progression system based on how far you progress in each level, which nets the player some unlockables to enchance their ability to get high scores. It's something that has a longer shelf life than Flappy Bird, and at the same price, I think.

Interesting and actually kind of confims a postulation that I had.  I bet that Phone games are really serving people whom have a low enough threshold for enjoyment. It's kinda like how the Wii was enough for people in comparison to the PS360(Inferior online, not as nice graphics, limited by DVD storage but really fun and really easy to get into).  I wouldn't be surprised if people are actually enjoying it because of what we see as a lack of depth, polish and variety.  They would probably be intimidated away by the extra options and mechanics that require more investment the same way Wii users were with PS360 controllers and high end market games.

That being said, there are mobile games with some depth, polish, and variety to them. They just don't seem to be among the most popular, usually. :P

Very, very true.  I'm targetting the platform hopefully later this year. So I'm trying to see if I can understand more about the more popular titles and what makes them so.  I'm afraid I might be overshooting the market lol.

Apparently, I've only seen green warp pipes been said though.

Also this thread is slowly becoming a Piewdiepie hate thread. ;p

Never seen any of his vidoes though, just seen him play a few times with Markiplier.
